The journey is roughly 14miles on A roads, that is what the wife who has been driving it says the coolant low warning comes on. I got a qoute for £90 inc vat abour and part to do the HBV, from a garage that is supposed to be recommended in the approved garage scheme. He said it will take roughly 1/2 hour. Everything seemed to be going well and I was about to say OK, when he said the problem is that there is only one origingal HBV in the whole of Europe. I said thank you and will get back to him, if he thinks there is only one in the whole of Europe, then either trying to get my business quick or an idiot that doesn't know about HBV fitting other Vauxhalls.

If I tackle the HBV job myself, is there a easy way to put the scuttle back on? Taking it off is easy, as removed the one on the wifes, but struggled to refit it.

Thanks for all the help.

roughly between 4 to 6 pints. Hot weather it needs more.

Thanks for the info on the diy dye, will get a uv dye as suggested and hope it works. Will have to put a cover on the oneside of the bonnet to make it darker as I have a street light, right next to my drive.

Thanks for the reply terry paget, will check as you say. The coolant bottle is clean with no oily residue, so hopefully nothing serious.

I wouldn't really use k-seal, as read on here about how it causes more problems than it solves but you do get to that point. LOL

Thanks for the quick replies. Not tried the places you said, will look when wife brings it back. It's hard keeping a 1995 2ltr and a 02 2.6 Omega on the road, they are like kids always wanting money spent on them. LOL

Hello I hope that someone can help me. I have a coolant leak in my 2002 2.6 omega. I have changed the radiator because it was cracked near the top hose, thanks to advice from on here. I have checked around the infamous HBV but cannot feel anything. I have tried driving the car with heaters off to see if it makes any difference, but it still loses coolant. I cannot see any drops of antifreeze underneath the car when parked up. Where are the obvious places that leaks occur on these. I feel like getting some K-seal for it. LOL

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Omega General Help / Re: Cylinder Head Coolant Flange Gasket

Hi Doctor Gollum

Thank you for the link I have ordered one. My reply was to Enceladus, explaining that it is a X20XEV engine I have, but the part I found was for a Z20let engine. My apologise if it came across as I was still looking, even after your help.

yes it is a x20xev engine. I am sure I read somewhere that the Z20Let is basicly the same engine? I have found the part I am looking for, but it says for z20let engine.

No it is to go between the cylinder head and the piece that it sits on. I seem to be unable to get the ecu coolant sensor connector off, I have squeezed the spring in. Is there another way it comes off?

Omega General Help / Cylinder Head Coolant Flange Gasket

Does anyone know where I can get one of these gaskets, or if one made from proper metal gasket paper can be used? The one I took off looked like the one in the picture, so I assume it is made of metal, due to heat from the area it is in. I found this one on ebay but it is sold out. It is for a 1995 Vauxhall Omega 2lt (X20XEV) engine

Thanks in advance for any help.

That's interesting raywilb, as my wife has just had a new pair of varifocals from them. When she tried them on she said that long distance was worse than her old pair. They checked them and did other things, then told her the same they take time to get used to. She has had vari's for years. I will tell her about your wife, she can then go back in and complain again.

The VW99 relay arrived yesterday, so just been out to fit it. The yellow relay was a pain to get out, but finally managed to swap it.

The good news is everything is working again as they should be, even returning to park.

So thanks Toledodude1973 for suggesting changing the yellow relay. Much easier and cheaper than a wiper motor replacement.

Thanks again for all the help. I am managing to keep a 1995 2ltr estate and my 02 2.6 saloon on the road, from all the knowledge on this forum.

I have managed to get the VW 99 relay just waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully it will sort the problem, if not as you say biggriffin, I will ask on here for possibly a wiper motor and the yellow relay.
