« on: 07 February 2012, 17:19:24 »

can somebody tell me which way round they are for intake and exhaust?

is there a gain to be had from running G cams on exhaust and intake?

I think it had been decided long ago that, for GM cams, the std fit was the best for 3.2...

aww...thought it might have been like the 2.6 with intake and exhaust cams being G's

http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/index.php?threads/2-6-3-2-v6-camshaft-designations.220835/

highest peak power and torque comes from running intake and exhaust G cams :(

i was lead to belive that the mv6 3.0 runs all G cams over a standard 3.0 with lower bhp, only reason i say this is LMF Vauxhall in leicester sold me a full set of 4 brand new G cams for my 2.5 cdx to up the bhp... told they were for a 3.0MV6.... that gives a standard 3.0 12bhp more....

but i stand corrected but thats what i bought... a month later car was written off & cams never fitted but still sold them for £375 on ebay 7 years ago....

MV6 has the same engine spec as the rest of the range.

I would hazard a guess that the J cams were brought in when they did away with the EGR and SAI systems to clean up the emissions.

Whether it would make any difference to swap them is anybody's guess. I wouldn't expect great things as it's the exhaust cam anyway, and the exhuast system is not tuned.

Only way to be sure would be to suck it and see, or measure each of the cam profiles accurately and see what the differences are IMHO.

So what is the difference between a normal 3.0 elite & 3.0 Mv6? apart from the obvious trim i mean performance wise??

Engine wise, there the same  :y

Elite has all the toys so it will weigh more  ;)
Mv6 has stiffer suspention and not very many toys so being a little lighter, it feels more sporty  :y

There aren't any different versions of the engines, all the same despite trim level/ markings. If it's X30XE they're all the same, as are all Y32SE, Y26SE, X25XE all the same through out the range and years. Urban legends that MV6 or plods might have any different engines from factory.

Performance wise, nothing. Handling, MV6 is a bit stiffer and a bit lower.
