Orange light on!
« on: 08 February 2012, 21:40:57 »

Hi all.
I had a new front section of exhaust fitted (down pipe and cats) after damaging the old one on a speed hump.
After about 2 weeks the orange engine management light came on. As the handbook states this is actually a "emissions warning lamp" I took it back to where it was fitted and had it checked out, they found no problems with the exhaust and took the car to an MoT station for an emissions check which was fine.
They reset the light and all was well until another 2 weeks later when the light came on again. Thats been a while now and its still on but the car is running perfectly.
I'm assuming the problem is with the light as my brother had a similar baffling problem on his Astra.
Has anyone else had the same problem and does anyone know how to make the light go off as its bloody annoying and will surely put potencial buyers off if I decide to sell.
Thanks.
Steve.

really need to get the codes read to determine whats wrong, could be an exhaust leak between exhaust manifold and new downpipe or faulty lambda sensor ....had a similar problem myself on my 2.2 auto..

What is the stored code? P0420? Or related to throttle body?
