Wtd: Track rod end rubber boots
« on: 29 December 2012, 09:36:29 »

Mine have started to perish, but looks like TRE itself is OK, so was going to just replace the boots.  Need the clip with them.

You'll find that most good motor factors are doing the dust covers on their own now TB, I had to do mine for the last MOT. :y

Normally loads of sizes available. Inside hole Dia, 10mm top 30mm lower fits nicely from memory.

Good luck getting the lower spring back on, I ended up using 2 small cable ties together, you know the type BT Outlet Socket type.

The ones I got came with rubber 'O' rings instead of the wire type, But they are fun to fit when youve got greasy fingers >:(

Did you save the boots off the wishbone ball joints? Might be the same.

From memory yea (Inside Hole dia), gave up with the web ones, so called Universal / One Size fits all, took old one off, measured it and poped down the local Auto Spares place, He had about 12 different sizes. Just got a pair that where the closest.

Edit to above, guessing 12mm top will fit as it will get compressed down over the Tapper bit when fitted.

According to this Page, a 12mm will stretch 15mm, so guessing the 10mm I got may have stretched a small amount.
