Daft as it sounds the 'drive' problem may simply be the flat battery, I am no expert but the jeep developed a gearbox problem (Mercedes engine and box) and a new battery solved the problem - something go do with low voltage effects the electrical controls........ :D :D

Falling battery affecting loads of system sis typical merc these days sadly, they really do have interfacing issues with their systems.
