What would you think it was .....it had a tip on that came away as I brought it out of the ground exposing a shiny pin type thing. Answers from military types particularly welcome

I wasn't sure to be honest but general consensus elsewhere is that it's a fuse from a shell which may or may not contain very nasty bangy stuff, rather than recreate TB's garage blast I have contacted the relative authorites,resulting in quite a fuss

So do the local plod, Bomb disposal en route apprently. I gave it a good whack with my spade and nowt happended so guess it's inert whatever it is

well what is it, if its a fuse from a shell then it should be safe as the shell contained the bangy stuff, the fuse has a small amount of  bang but if its on its own then it has,  or should have gone off at some time. where is the rest thats the worry. Looks german from what i can see.
