Here is an interesting football fact.

During the 1970 World cup in Mexico the England team were 'loaned' a brand new Cortina Mk2 1600E. At the end of 1970 the players could either give the car back or buy it as a reduced price.

Can you imagine the response of the England players in 2020........Good news lads Ford have very kindly offered to loan you a new Mondeo for a few weeks. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Imagine what Best would have been like had he played the game in the 90,s or 00,s with lighter balls, designer boots, and management which actually guided young players and went to great efforts to look after their welfare and manage their PR off the pitch.
I doubt the Portugese ballet dancer would have got a look in.

Apparently George Best went 'missing'  when he should have been training. :-\

Imagine what Best would have been like had he played the game in the 90,s or 00,s  ....

I've never been into any football but Geo Best was brilliant on the pitch ..... his demon being drink and that was never going to be 'cured'

If Alex Ferguson had managed him he would never have discovered his demon though, or certainly not until his playing days were over. He would have been too strictly disciplined to have discovered it.

Not sure about that. Limitless money, fast cars, booze, and birds is going to lead any 20 year old astray. ;)

Not if your manager gave the last bloke who tried it a free transfer to SLady bitshorpe reserves after 3 months training with the youth team for three months at 6am.

The trouble with young premiership players is that they go from almost nothing to believing they are God almighty very quickly.

They suddenly find themselves at 18 or 19 driving a new Aston or Ferrari rather than a  15 year old Corsa with a red primer front wing. Little wonder they are such arrogant little pricks. :-\

Yes, and we are talking about the late 1960's, early 70's when drinking, and especially smoking, had not been demonised as much.  They were THE pleasures, along with the fancy cars and clothes and sex, that distinguished the new elite, the celebs, like Best, Richard Burton and many other 'A' isters. :D :D ;)
