today changed ignition switch, overhauled barrel. batt ok yet still engine whirring sometimes on starting as if motor is sticking  i cant find any thing about overhauling s/motor. advice much appreciated pls

are the ignition switches prone to wear, i think mine may be on its way out. there loads of play when i insert the key & i have to sometimes have a few attempts to start before it does. help pls

no immobiliser,s ok  the engine usually starts. it,s very intermittant. the key seems quite loose. i know iv,e read where a problem can occur with ignition lock itself or a relay situated behind the glove box. i can,t find that post

iv,e read some where a thread re this prob but can,t find it. when i turn the key it,s as if the s/motor is not engaging. iv,e read somewhere about a worn ignition, or a relay situ behind glove box - its not the hotfix prob    any help much appreciated

will hot water soften the pipe - another little trick i used was to get a wire coat hanger cut slightly longer  (2 -3 inch) & taper a end so it fits inside the metal l/off pipe sliding down the flexi pipe enabled a better grip. also by putting the wire into the pipe 1st & then sliding the flexi down the wire i found it easier to push the l/off pipe  :)into situ when putting new pipes on.

i,d like to hear from a member that has actually fitted one, but regards my introduction to the problem of difficult starting when hot  , a- it was an extremely hot day , b- i,d had no problems before that day.

thanks very much lee, instructions make life easier. though iv,e a phobia re car electrics. i once burnt an entire loom out trying to install a ciggy point just so,s i could charge a phone

Turk posted a link to a guy selling a device on ebay that fools the ecu & allows the bmw when it develops a problem starting when hot to start. but it came with no instructions. i think TB may know
