forgive me if iv'e got this completely wrong, but you say that you want to run two pc's through two monitors, one monitor is dual input and the other is single input, will not the pc send to as many screens that the gpu can handle, that being the case as said before why complicate things, but run two monitors from one unit and only one monitor from the other. I am not a pc techie so I'm probably talking from somewhere lower than my mouth behind me !

cnj....don't worry mate, everyone is entitled to an input :y

However, as I stated originally, I need both units to run dual monitors, mate. Imagine in a perfect simple easy world, you could buy splitter cables for all the bits that plug into a computer, it would just be a case of switching on either computer A or computer B (I think  ;) ) But life ain't like that :(

I know this is slightly off my original topic, but now I have used dual monitors, I find computers with only one screen a pain in the butt :y
The difference two screens make is superb, being able to drag stuff to the second monitor, like spreadsheets, etc makes life a doddle when copying, or reading instructions from one screen, whilst 'doing' on the other.
In Flight Sim, the ability to have navaids, gauges, ATC, etc, on the second screen is a major must. :y

without going off and researching the point I'm fairly sure iv'e seen splitter cables for both vga and dvi cable on the bay of e,( I refuse to use them, as we had our account hacked, luckily just before payday so the bank disallowed the transaction !) would that help with your problem ?

Remember there is more than just the screens to consider, else I'd recommend 2 dual input screens.  Keyboards and mice need to be considered.
