After a little advice and tips if anyone has attempted this.  I have two 99 3.0 Elites both with blowing off side manifolds, I understand the official word on this is engine out, I know the metal coolant pipe is in the way but I guess there might be a way around this??  Any help or suggestions would be great, cheers Matt

Lol, no, it can be done in the car considerably easier than it is to remove the engine!

Takes me about 3 hours (even in a field in the lake district)....as you have to remove the coolant pipe mentioned and the heat shields.

Tell me more Mark, do you have to undo the engine mounts?  Thinking of doing both sides at the same time along with cam covers timing belt etc so everything is sorted.

You sure it's not blowing at the joint between the manifold and the downpipe rather than the head.

Just saying because that's where mine went and it's a doddle to change.

The offside isn't too bad a job but I wouldn't do the nearside unless it was blowing. Give me a shout if you need a hand, im local to you and have done quite a few now

as with all these things,first time you do it will take a while, Mark has had plenty of practice working on omegas and vauxhalls generally, dont expect to do it in 3hours straight off. :-/
