Sh!t figures.  :D

3.2 Auto Saloon, London commute of 25 ish miles from Surrey. Mixture of motorway, city and heavy traffic = 24 mpg average.

That's not too bad!
My 2.2 only gives 26-28 depending how much commuting in heavy traffic.

Its a big heavy Car with a V6 guzzler, so its never going to be good, so there never going to be economical cars,     ..... now if you get an LPG converted one however.

Im my opinion, without upsetting 2.6 Owners, the small difference in MPG gain for a 2.6 isn't worth it it for the extra Torque and Performance you get with the 3.2, only issue with that is the 3.2 will be an Auto.

If you want to try a get good mpg from the V6 then hunt for a 3.0 Manual and Chip it (about £90), thats about the best your going to do without going down the LPG Route.

Had a 2001 2.6 manual no town work averaged 27-30 mpg.

I used to get that (more on the Motorway) with my chipped 3.0 MV6 Manual Estate driving from Essex to Central London on most days, not much in it performance wise between the 3.0 and 3.2, in fact if anything I would say the 3.0 had more Chat in the upper Rev Ranges.  ;)

I've had a 2.6 with G Cams and it was still a long way from a 3.2.

That makes me feel better with the 3.2 auto, which gets tons amount of town work at 24mpg average  :)

While I agree, anyone looking to buy a v6 omega these days is a begger, not a chooser. And I would reframe the comment as "the extra Torque and Performance you get with the 3.2 isn't worth buying an inferior car for".

It all depends on your requirements, if you just want a cruiser to waft you along at motorway speeds and day to day traffic, the smaller v6 is adequate imho. The 2.2 auto on the other hand, will foster either impotent fury, or zen-like patience in its driver.  ;D

Never said the V6 2.6 was an inferior car, or a least didn't mean to imply that, far from it, the point I was making was with reference to the Topic 'V6 MPG', in my view in terms of MPG I dont feel the smaller engine'd 2.6 V6 was worthy of the small mpg savings compared to its sister 3.2.

Also talking of of Motorway cruises, I reckon put 5 people plus some holiday luggage in the 2.6 and 3.2 then both go for a leisurely few hundred mile cruise, your probably find in terms of MPG the 3.2 will come out slightly better.

But hey, its only Petrol money, some aren't bothered about cost per mile, some are, Me, Im a titght bugger, I like to try and squeesh as much as possible for my Buck, hence that's probably why I like my LPG's so much.  ;D ;)

On the 2.2 subject, see you brought this one up  ;D,  I did have 2.2 Manual LPG to drive around in for a little while, and was quiet surprised how bad it was on MPG compared to the LPG'd V6's Ive driven. :o  ;)

Absolutely, I never saw the right side of 30 on mine, I think I once got 31.5 on the SID, but that didn't hit the magic number brim to brim.  I'm very tempted by the 3.2 in a vectra or signum to LPG as I understand its an identical engine (although clearly the gearbox will be different). However I need a garage to work in before I can do that!

Consistent 27mpg I would get, never really had lower than 22 over an entire tank. Record was 31 on long run, all LPG figures.

With 3.2 getting 23/24mpg on petrol, I would expect around 17/18mpg on gas.

For the short time I had the 2.2 LPG bearing in mind its a Manual, I used it for a week or two for London commutes, thinking I would save myself a fortune, did a few brim to brims on LPG, which is how I always calculate MPG in real terms,  it was doing on LPG about 22mpg on average in the smoke, my 3.2 LPG'd Manual would do them sort of figures, in fact a 3.2 LPG Auto wouldn't be far behind, I reckon 18/19 mpg.

On the Vectra Side Ive also got one of them, 3.2 Manual Elite LPG'd, there not too bad as it goes, never as comfy as a 3.2 Omega (or any quicker) but could hit 24 in Town and 30+ on a Motorway using LPG, probably get rid of it in the New Year as dont really use it much these gays if Im honest.  :-\

Funny you should say that about comfort, I was eyeing up swapping in some omega elite leather chairs (or even CDX manual heated leathers) into the front of the vec if I got it, not sure how well it would work though  :-\. Given the electric seat switch gear is the same across the two vehicles, I'd be amazed if they don't share a lot of common components.

Omega seats will never fit Vectra C. Best option is the ultra rare memory fronts from an early Signum ;)

never seems a bit strong. You might have to do some fabrication work to match the Vectra runners with the Omega seats, but that's hardly complicated. Having put Capri seats in Minis, RS Turbo and Probe seats in Capris, Scorpio seats in a Superminx, Vectra in an Avenger, Starion in mk1 Escort and my Metro has Astra GTE seats I reckon this sort of thing is easy. Unless you expect bastard combinations to just bolt together.

They mount completely differently  ;)

Vectra C seats hook in at the front with a bolt at the back of each rail...

Alot of work when you can buy something that bolts straight in ::)

Sh!t figures.  :D

3.2 Auto Saloon, London commute of 25 ish miles from Surrey. Mixture of motorway, city and heavy traffic = 24 mpg average.
I suspect few others could achieve that.

To the OP, pre LPG, my:
3.2 - approx. 21mpg day to day, 30mpg on a clear 80mph long motorway cruise, mid/high teens if I had a lot of fun over the tank
3.0 - 24mpg day to day, 35 on a clear run
2.5 - 27mpg day to day
2.5 chipped with 3l cams - 25mpg day to day

Currently 22.9 over current tank, which is almost out, think slowly I'm getting that binary throttle control  :D  ;D

I think even if you did manage to get them to bolt in I'd doubt whether you would be able to shut the doors, there wider then the Veccy seats.  :-\

The way I would look at it, getting LPG sub 60p, would be even 15mpg is basically 30mpg in terms of cost. So why not have a heavy right foot!  :D

More, a lot more, lets take your 3.2 and your commute to work, I'll base the Cost on around here because I know the Prices, Petrol at 1.229 perL, LPg around here is 53/54p, lets call it 55p perL, if you doing 24 MPG with your right slippers on then you should easy be able to do 20/21 mpg on Gas but lets call it 19mpg .

So Maths based on current Petrol and LPG Prices.

Gallon of Petrol £1.229 L x 4.55 = £5.59 Gal, / by 24mpg = 23.3p per Mile.
same cost on lpg
£5.59 worth of Gas / by 55p = 10.16 L, / by 4.55 = 2.23 Gals, x 19 = 42.4 MPG equivalent and 13.2p per Mile   :y

Plus, as you already know, where your really going to see the cost benefits of LPG is on a nice long Run where you can push your average MPG up even more ;)

I must try and pop the cills off the 3.2 this weekend, to inspect for rust. See how it's looking before committing.

55p would be a challenge this side of London though, BP at Hatton Cross would be my main filling location. Hopefully they still offer that LPG accumulator thing, as they currently offer it at 61p

Mind you, Bicester is mostly unusable due to that stupid train line, the crossing is currently closed 25mins every hour, and Chiltern are trying for 50 mins every hour :o

A lot of garages are pricing it so high, as if to drive down sales and justify removing the pumps  :-\

I need to check Shell at Fleet, that was always reasonable. If Hatton Cross BP stopped selling the stuff, it could be a deal breaker for me.

Is there a way to check if BP station is run by BP? Guessing this one is not, as it's got a Co-Op attached.

I found London LPG so much cheaper - when I was working at HarrypotterLand last yeah, the nearby Saino's and nearby Shell were same price as Asda, but with the advantage of always having some, unlike the mongs at High Wycombe.

If you cant get the Asda, Morisons or Sainsburys (normaly around the 54/55p touch) or Shell around here, then hunt down some MRH Stations, normally BP, Esso or Texico,

Im sure theres a few MRH in your neck in SW London, one of my local BP MRH was doing it for 53.9 for ages until recently, my have said these before but due to having more than one LPG cars, I tend to carry around 2 of the MRH Discounts Cards, use the first 1 -5p Off for 30L Top Ups, then the 6 - 10p Off for full refills, Yea I know very Sad, but was working out at 48p on average, plus i do seem to get quite a few of those 500 Nectar Till Receipt thing'ys, from BP fill ups, thats worth another £2.50.  :D ;)

Thats because you drive around on 3 wheels all time, and even when all 4 are on the ground I doubt that any one of them are rotating at the same speed as the others.  ;D

On my various commutes I have 4 really, others are just not realistic in rush-hour traffic.

Texaco - A4: Generally the cheapest, would be around 5p cheaper than BP, but the pumps were sh!t, so unreliable. Often not giving right pressure or out of service. Price never on board, had to look at the pump. (might do this on way home)
BP - Hatton Cross: Used to be most expensive, but cheaper recently. Pumps reliable. Currently 61.9
Shell - M3 Sunbury.  Reliable, but not on my main commute route, means detour. 65.9 currently!
Shell - Fleet area. Need to check their price. *plus this one is not close enough as a commuter filling station.

Not got any supermarkets around here that sell fuel, Asda High Wycombe was brilliant when I did Brackley-London commute.

Presume that was direct at me?

Fleet Shell - It's 8 miles off my route, so 16miles return. Given my commute is 25 miles each way and roughly 1 hour, that's some premium in distance and time.

Add into the fact I have a very tight time to get home, to pick up little MrsT, I cannot afford this extra addition. I've done it before, when I had LPG, so I do know it.  ::)

Got to be easier than trying to fight in and out of the garage at Hatton Cross :-\

I am sure that if you wanted it to be viable it could be... after all, a tank should last you a week... ;)

That's to say that "not on my route" actually means that it's not on your regular commute rather than being on Mars...

Passing it on the way out (or back) at the weekend isn't beyond reason. Equally you seem to go to Brighton a bit, and I can think of several lpg stockists between Camberley and there, regardless of route ;)

I drive passed Hatton Cross, nearly every run home. Around 90% of the runs, so it's best choice. Either that or Texaco one.

Cills will come off this weekend, to see if the body is viable for longer term.

A3 next junction up from M25 ;) Also one north of the M3 Farnborough exit, though that might be Bracknell :-\

2 mile short journey to work twice a day car never gets warm during week town drive .. average 22mpg..

went oh holiday earlier in year 250 miles trip motorway with as little town as got to location (full boot 3 people in car and averaged 30mpg) not going slow m6 toll :)

automatic 3.2 if driven ok they not bad not great but not bad at all ...

think my average across motorway and town driving is about 24mpg at minute on computer

The type of journey you do does make such a difference to the MPG obtained, my wifes Subaru Forester auto on a run to Wales did 35mpg on  her commute to work approx 3 miles sees 19mpg, she had a Fiat Panda previously great on a run but on her commute low twenties, I hated that car with a vengeance !
