Hi

Does anyone know why the lights on my CD stacker unit in our 2001 MV6 are dimmer than the surrounding lights on the dash?

With the dash lights turned right down the brightness is about the same as the radio.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Omega General Help / Wind Deflectors

HI all

Bought some of them plastic wind deflectors that go in the front side windows

Only problem is I dont think they are going to fit because every time I wind the drivers window up its gets so far then stops and goes back down

I know they have the "safety" stop and retreat function, but is there any way around that?

I think with the deflectors in they are offering too much resistnace to the window, and I need to glue them in place yet too.......!!!

Hi all

Want to remove the drivers side headlight to sort the misting out and having never done it before (and with it being xenon) I just wondered if its as easy as just undoing the 2 visible botls or is it more techincal than that?

Omega General Help / Weird heater problem

Hi all

A friend at work has recently bought an 03 reg 2.2 DTi CD manual, and he loves it

However, there seems to be a problem with the heater on it

The left hand side and left centre dash vents blow air both warm and cold as required, but the right hand side and right centre ONLY blow cold............?

Any ideas please as to what it could be?

Omega General Help / Diameter of facelift 3.0 exhaust tail pipe please

Hi all

Due to order a new exhaust for our facelift 2.6 next week and am planning to upgrade to a twin pipe facelft 3.0 system

Does any of the facelift 3.0 owners know the diameter of the tailpipe of the twin rear silencer so I can order the correct size chrome exhaust trims.....??

Omega General Help / Help please !!! Alarm problem.........!!

Hi all

My fuel filler central locking actuator failed a couple of weeks ago, the replacement arrived today.

Just fitted it, works fine, however......

The red LED for the alarm now flashes during the arming period, when it should stay constantly onn for 10 seconds until alarm is activated.....

Any ideas please what I have done and what I can do to rectify......

Omega General Help / Fuel filler flap problem

Hi all

Our Mig has just developed a little problem with the fuel filler flap....

Basically it wont lock with the central locking like it should....

Nearly dropped me in the mire coming home from work last night cos I pulled in to the Shell station near here with the display showing 16 MILES range, only to find I couldnt open the bleeding flap to put fuel in.....!!!

Luckily I made it to Tesco this morning running on vapours and refuelled after pulling the locking rod open manually.....

Now, the locking rod wont extend AT ALL to lock the flap shut.....

Any help or advice gratefully received....

Omega General Help / Tachometer/speedo dash light out.........

Hi all

One of my dash lights has packed up.

It means the right half of the rev counter and the left half of the speedo are not illuminated....

Any one know if its a big job, may as well replace all of them whilst the job is being done?

Anyone in Nottingham fancy a bit of beer money for doing them?

Omega General Help / Cracking from drivers side front corner.......??

Hi all

Just hoping please to get a bit of advice if possible.....

Car is fine, drives lovely as normal, but I noticed during our recent holiday in Normandy that there is occasionally what I would describe as a "cracking"  sound coming from the front drivers side wheel area??

Seems to be when going over speed bumps for example, although I may be imagining it but the steering doesnt feel as direct as it used to as well......??

Any advice greatly received as to exactly what it could be........

Omega General Help / De-badging...........(Opel-isation)

Evening all

I am currently in the process of Opel-ising our MV6......Dont ask me why, just something I want to do (think the Opel grille looks nicer than the Vx one etc)

But just wondered......

Does anybody know how to take off the Vx badge in the centre of the steering wheel? Is it airbag off jobbie?? If so can I do it myself or is it a complicated/dangerous operation?

Also, whats the best way to remove all exterior Vx badging causing as little damage as possible to the underlying paintwork

Omega General Help / 0170 and 0173 remedy

Hi all

Have an ongoing problem with the codes 0170 and 0173.

I know these are Fuel Trim malfunction on both banks, but wondered where to start with trying to remedy the fault??

Car runs perfectly, starts first time every time and shows good mpg figures.

I have a fault reader so all i have been doing is resetting every time the eml light comes on.

I have noticed it comes on religiously after 3 journeys, whether the journeys be 15 mins long or 200 miles long, and the car behaves perfectly before and after the eml light shows.

Any help gratefully received !!!

Omega General Help / 2.6 V6 Cambelt change in Nottingham

Hi all

Following the recent purchase of our new MV6, I have spent a bit of time going through the service history.

From what I can see it is about due a cambelt change and I just wondered if

A. Is there anybody on here (must be relatively competent!) who would be prepared to do the cambelt for me one weekend for poundnotes if I supply the parts

or

B. Does anyone recommend any of the local Vauxhall specialist garages in the Nottingham area?

Also, what would I be expecting to pay for the work to be done?
