Hello
Im looking for some advice from an electrician if theres any about .... basically i thought i'd replace the bathroom pull witch with a shiney new on to match the bathroom decor . The bathroom has only one light and one light switch but there is a fan that comes on with the light and runs for 5 mins or so afterwards .
So i unscrew the one thats there and see 3 red wires going into one terminal and a red one and a yellow one going into another .....

So the new switch looks like this below ..... where do i start  ::)

Thought this would be easy  ???

Seeing im going to be omega-less in a few days i have some bits and pieces that may be of use to someone .
They are a 2.2 petrol timing belt kit 93174267 This is the full kit including belt , tensioner and rollers. Also a cam lock i bought for the job.
A Q&H waterpump for the same motor .
A rear brake pad set including shims and pins 9193476
Rear Donut bushes ... im sure they are Febi but cant really remember 90447156
Im about to put the original grille back on the car so there will be an Irmscher look a like grille with Irmscher badge available probly tomorrow as well .

These were all things i was going to do to the car but due to lack of knowlege , tools and someone to lend a hand i never got round to them  :-\
Pics below ......
Im open to suggestions as to how much these things are worth as i dont really have a clue .
If anyone wants anything would it be possible for you to arrange your own courier to collect them ?
I've just moved house into the middle of nowhere and the nearest post office is 7 miles away and im trying to do up this house and time is tight enough as it is .

General Discussion Area / Omega owner no longer
« on: 03 February 2013, 15:00:09 »
Well that time has come for the Omega to go.
Had a few issues in a short period and shes needing a few things done.
Then this morning at work the gear selector has become really stiff to move.
Cant see anything obviously wrong but its the last straw.
Was fine and free last night but this morning it was stiff to move.
I've moved out to the countryside and need a reliable car.
New car is just a year old so should be ok. An Insignia
Its a diesel so should get more than the shocking mid 20s mpg I get just now.
Just hope Ive done the right thing.

Omega General Help / Suddenly stiff gear selector
« on: 03 February 2013, 08:03:35 »
Hello all
As above I went to work last night and all was well. Gear lever didn't feel any different putting it into park before leaving car.
This morning I climbs in the car to be greeted with a really stiff gear selector.
It's not the lock thing that stops it moving unless foots on the brake though.
It's just like its really stiff. It will go into all positions and the car drives fine but now I'm worried about this gear lever.
I now live in the middle of nowhere and depend on the car more than ever.
Could it be as simple as removing the gator in the cabin and lubricating the selector ?

I hate cars  ;D ;D

Omega General Help / Water from scuttle in plugwells
« on: 21 December 2012, 13:10:09 »
Well above says it all really
Misfire. So put new plugs in. Misfire again so got new coilpack. Just taken the old one out and plugwells are brimmed with water. Been leaking off scuttle and filled up the wells with all the rain.
So how on earth is this one cured. I need the stupid car over Xmas day and boxing day for work.
No point putting in shiney new coilpack to have it flooded out again.
The seal at bottom of windscreen looks fine. It's the padding underneath its dripping off right onto the eco-tec strip
Great design.

Hello
I've just replaced the powersounder and alarm horn on my car as the powersounder batteries were dying and the circular horn on the last one never worked .
So when i plugged in the powersounder it started going off and kept going off dispite locking and unlocking the car several times .
It did stop going off eventually however and i thought thats fine .
So now if i lock the car using the fob then open with the key i now get a honk from the HORN every second or so until i press the fob again ... i assume this is how it should be ?
So when should the powersounder go off though .... it used to go off at silly o'clock for no reason ... how do i test it to see if its working properly though ? Do i have to disconnect the battery for it to go off ?
Dont really want to do that just now though as im at work  ;)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Another Powersounder dies !
« on: 19 November 2012, 15:31:42 »
Well as above the powersounder was removed and thrown in a bucket of water ....after starting to go off randomly .
These things are hard to kill arnt they  ;D
It screamed away on and of under the water for a good 10 mins before giving up.

A few hours later i took it out the water to clean it up to get the part number of it when it started screaming again .... just about s**t my trousers  ;D
It weighed a ton and was full of water but still refused to die so was dunked back in the bucket for another few hours ...... :o
It finally bites the dust .... So ,
Is it worth getting another one ??... I assume the horn next to my power sounder is broken as well as it doesnt sound either but there are wires attatched to it .. seem to remember it being diagnosed and something about a short or open circit to the horn but cause the power sounder still worked then i wasnt bothered about it .... so there will be no sounds at all if someone does do something to the car .
Mmmmm decisions decisions  ;D

Hello
As above when i start the car and put on the lights i get this warning on the TID
I jump out and check but all the lights are on and working .... ???
It normally goes away its self but why give the warning if they are on and working .
I did have a taillight out a few weeks ago but it was replaced.
Since then I've had this fault every time the lights are put on ... :-\

General Discussion Area / Garages and Locking Wheel Nuts
« on: 25 August 2012, 18:30:28 »
Why do garages bang on the locking wheel nuts with the windy gun .
Tried to get the rear wheels off today to inspect rear pads and couldnt get the lock nuts to move .... the bend in my breaker bar was quite impressive .
Every time i have a car in a garage that involves having the wheels off i always ask them to leave the lock bolt loose so i can do it up myself to the correct torque .
But no ... every time you go back there banged on as tight as the windy gun can go .
Managed to loosen the other bolts but the lock bolt wouldnt move ... and of course the locking nut was the last one to try .
Cant remember the last time the rears were of mind you but they do not need to be as tight as that ....
Hope i dont get a puncture before i can get to a garage to have them loosened off as im working all weekend and cant get there till Tuesday .

General Discussion Area / Stopping Smoking
« on: 06 August 2012, 18:56:15 »
Well thats a week now without a fag ... woke up last Monday morning and thought that it , enough .
So went to my local chemist and signed  on to there no smoking program thingy .

Now i've tried umpteen times before and always failed  :'(.... i seem to find it harder as time goes by than getting easier . Last time i lasted 3 months .

Got these Niquitin Mini's that look like tic-tacs and the Niquitin Spray thingy all free for joining this program thing .
Anyway yesterday and today have been a struggle but up untill then its been easy .
The mouth spray thing is great though ... two sprays and the relief is instant  ;D

So for anyone else thinking about quitting these things are good ... Im not saying Ive quit yet but these are much better than the patches Ive tried before .

« on: 22 July 2012, 20:01:29 »
Hi
Im going to buy the Eternal Car rear box for my 2.2 petrol as mine has done its job after 4 years  ( Ebay item 190466458829 ) but can anyone tell me what size of clamps will be needed ... i might also get a small and tidy chrome tip as well ... not looking for a big stupid gay looking thing though , so what diameter pipe will the exhaust have and any suggestions for a chrome tip ? Keeping in mind i want to keep the car looking good and not trashy . Maybe something with a twin outlet .
I will search the bay etc but if any one has any hands on experience with tips or pics of some fitted feel free to share   :y
