Thanks YZ250 - where do I get a carb kit, etc., from, please? As yet I don't even know the make of the carb, so busy with hospital appointments.....lucky me!

Ron.

There are loads on ebay, just have to check which carb is fitted. The carbs are very similar, even if they are different brands. The rebuild kit consists of the gaskets (the one with the disc is the fuel gasket), main jet, main jet spring holder and pin and the small disc is a filter. You just dig the old filter out with a scriber and push the new filter in with the flat end of a drill.

You need to check that the cord will pull first though, just in case it has seized.  :y  Example of kit below.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZAMA-RB-71-CARB-Rebuild-Repair-KIT-C1U-K54-C1U-K81-C1U-K82-ECHO-MANTIS-SV-4-E/172631383790?hash=item2831a1deee:g:r3YAAOSwRUhY9igY

Also bear in mind what others have said, the fuel filter block on the end of the fuel line (inside the fuel tank) gums up, causing it to bog down under hard revs.  :y
