Political question
« on: 27 May 2019, 14:26:21 »

Now I don't do politics . . .  so not really up to speed on this . . .  But . .

Last nights results in the London area . . . BBC seem to be saying that it was a big win for

the Lib Dems . . :-\   Is this "win" not simply because they are a remain party & a huge

chunk of the London region is now lived in  by people who have moved in from the EU &

are just trying to secure their residence here ?   :-\ :-\ :-\

The results last night show that clarity of purpose is what the people want.

Brexit party.......willing to leave with no deal. Did very well.

Lib Dems...........100% want to remain, also did very well.

Labour and the Conservatives given  a kicking as nobody knows what they stand for.

The Green Party also did exceptionally well. Most voters being  pro EU polar bear lovers.

Yes indeed.  At least in our part of the UK political observers are already saying that of course the Brexit party did extremely well, but if you add up the votes for all the "Remain" parties like Lib Dems, Change UK, The Greens, they have more votes than the "Leave" Brexit party.

So, in short yesterdays voting changed nothing in British politics as far as the Leave or Remain argument goes!!  We have it all still to come! ::) ::) ::) ::) :(

I still however cannot get my head around the Brexit Party gaining more MEP's when they do not want to be in the EU! :P

Nigel Farage said earlier today that, if we don't leave in October, the brexit party will fight the next general election.

Even Farage's crew will not change a thing within the EU, nor the withdrawal agreement.  The battle is still to be had this side of the Channel, unfortunately.................when will it ever be finished?!! ::) ::) :-* ;)

When people accept that a democratic vote was offered, accepted ,voted on , won and has to be implemented.
Selective democracy seems to be the mantra of the losers.

This about sums it up.

Leavers generally want a no-compromise leave. Remainers want to stay.  So its fair to say they will share the bulk...

Half the Tories and the majority of Labour want to remain, but don't have the balls to say so.  But everyone has seen through that.

The Brexit party had one policy - the result of the referendum must be honoured.
All the other parties had a variety of policies so people voted for them for a variety of reasons.
For example - a friend of mine was an ardent remainer and cant stand Farage. However he is also a democrat and feels very strongly that Brexit must happen.
He told me last week that he was sickened by the shenanigans of Tories and Labour over Brexit ans was going to vote Libdem as a protest.
I pointed out to him that the Libdems want to cancel the referendum result, and that the Brexit parties only policy was to carry out the result, and so anyone who believes in democracy should on this occasion vote for the Brexit party and vote any way they want to after this.
He voted as I advised him to. :)
Im now quietly confident we will leave on October 31st, deal or no deal. If we dont, the Tory party will be consigned to the history books.

Al, in answer to your original question - yes.  :y

Amid all the remainer spin and hubris today, one interesting fact caught my eye earlier.....

Nigel Farage's 6 week old Brexit Party is the joint largest national political party in the EU Parliament, along with Angela Merkel's CDU-CSU party.  They both have 29 seats.  :)
