Hire of a genny from say, GAP, is roughly £70 for a week plus diesel.

If we were able to get 110/240 lighting then we have the power required for the weekend for minimal outlay particularly if, for example, a nominal fee was asked for to cover hire and fuel??

I have a small propane gas jet heater but does need 240v for the fans.  No probs bringing that, if needed.  By the sounds of things, it may well get cold in there....

If someone from the Swindon area is going I have a 2 kW generator you guys can borrow as I can't make it. It has 2 x 13 amp UK sockets.

I am normally loath to lend such items, but I'm sure I can trust you guys ...???

I could potentially borrow a little 700 watt jenny. Would do for lighting.

I also have a 1KW inverter.

The welding jobs are going to be a challenge with a generator, IME ::)

Those building style ones generaly use a tow loop!

We do need a 2KW one if we want to do any welding!

I'd go for something bigger than that.

The "support truck" we take on kit car tours has a 130 amp welder and a 3kVA petrol generator and as soon as you strike an arc the generator practically stalls. It just doesn't have enough momentum to cope with the transient nature of the load. You can only weld in little splats at a time, no matter what current setting you use. Last time the need arose we connected a couple of car batteries in series and just used the welder as a wire feed device. :o

I'd go for something around the 5kVA level and preferably diesel because they have much larger flywheels!

My genny goes in the boot .. It probably would not handle welding .. but lights/power tools should be no problem.

Just for you fellas, I went with Loo Knee this afternoon to try out the full English at the cafe and Sue the owner said she would be happy to sort us all out :D

By the way, the breakfast was lovely and accompanied by door stop toast. The things I put my self through for this place ::)

And then do a full day's work? Some girl!
Can we decide an earliest arrival time, 'cos I'm going to be there overnight on Friday and can make an early start on preparation etc. After getting sorted out ,of course!   8-) ::)

Hi all,
Just to let you all know I have just bought the v6 cam locking tool kit so hopefully it will arrive before the 23rd. If it does then there is another kit available to use if someone needs to use it so it could make make 5 cars to be done all at the same time?

I'm sure one of the guy's that know's how to do the V6 can use it, unfortunately I don't. Is this useful to you guy's, does this help? I also have some twin site lights as well (240 volts) hope this helps as well.

Paul  :y
P.S I may have made myself skint by doing this just might not have enough for the hotel accomadation SOOOOOOO can anyone put me up for the night? PLEASE  ;) ;)
