« on: 28 June 2019, 22:12:11 »

I've noticed that the rear one on my estate is now shot and new one is required.Looks like it could go an extra inch bigger any recommendations Vauxhall or other Bosch etc and may do the front ones as well Regards Glenn

Its the rear, anything will do.

The nature of the glass shape means it will not get cleaned over the entire length of the blade - although a new wiper arm will improve that.

The Vauxhall supplied blade is simply a re-branded Champion A33 13"/330mm. The arm itself is made by Valeo, at least on later model years. That sweeps to within 3/8" of the bottom edge of the black border in the glass. I don't think there's any scope to increase that. Any extra would be sweeping an area you can't see through anyway.

A Bosch SP13 is just as good and is said to be 340mm, so perhaps a smidgen longer. Or try a Valeo.

I always use genuine VX - they are as cheap as decent other known brands, and you know they wont scrape or judder across the screen. Too many alternative brands that I have tried do this, so I use genuine for quietness of operation and ensuring a clear screen, for relative little money.

I would go for genuine VX all round. I do - for the reasons given above...

Same here, always goes GM.

Cost about the same as any other brand, but last me donkeys. My current pair now finally clapped out after 4+ years. Plenty of other/no-name out there will give up the ghost after 6months/1 year.  :y

For the rear the GM/Vauxhall part is a repackaged Champion 13" blade. This blade is 330mm and yields the least swept area. This is the original thrust of this topic.

You can fit a Bosch 13" blade which is 340mm, gives a larger swept area and all of the blade still contacts the screen. I have 340mm.

Valeo list their 14" blades as fitting an Omega. These are 350mm and will sweep into the black border of the glass. This provides the largest swept area. Anything longer will likely foul the rubber border at the top. Or foul the motor housing at the bottom of the stroke.

The front blades supplied by Vauxhall are also repackaged Champion. Previously they were Bosch SP24S/SP19, 600mm with spoiler and standard 480mm. The Bosch or the Champions work best on an Omega. Most seem to prefer the Bosch blades.

Get the blades wherever is cheapest. There is nothing to be gained by buying Vauxhall as they are rebranded Champion. The EPC even lists them as Champion.

It's also possible to retrofit the more modern  Bosch Aerotwin blades. However the nearside blade does not fully hug the bottom of the windscreen at the bottom of the stroke.  Which is visually annoying when the car is parked  Otherwise they are fine
