Blackbushe?
« on: 25 June 2016, 21:57:01 »

I'm attending a meet of the Barkham and District Classic car club next Wednesday night at Blackbushe airport and although I've not been to this meet yet, I was thinking of sussing it out as a possible venue for a meeting spot for OOF members down this neck of the woods Apparently there is  a big car park and a café, and I was thinking possibly this could be an evening meet for a couple of hours, may be to have a coffee and a gum flapping session.I'll report back and if it's OK then may be there might be enough interest to do a try out.

I'd certainly be up for a meet there but I'm probably not able to make Wednesday. :y

Might be able to think of a few other possibilities in the area if that turns out to be a no-go.

I'll have a word with the guys from BADCC,and see what's involved as far as meets being held there, although I've been a member for around 18months,I've never actually attended a club meet,so this will be a fact finding mission in all respects. :-\

Blackbushe would certainly be OK for a local get together after a look see last night, big car park and the café, all would be ideal for any car themed meet. The big BUT for me was the teewats who turned up,big huddle of the clique in the car park and unfortunately I wouldn't be able to recognise any one again as they had their heads jammed so far up their own asses it would be impossible. : ::):)But a big yes for the site, and certainly recommend it for either an Omega meet or an ABS meet. :y

Strange thing is I never knew the place existed, but as already stated it would certainly fit a breakfast meet as well, seeing as the right honourable member for Chatham has discontinued the Saturday 'Jungle Meet' but could possibly reconsider his decision as soon as he takes up his new position as PM :-\  :)

There's a few poison chalices floating around at the moment and thankfully I wouldn't want any of them, but I'd be happy to arrange a meet down this end as there are limitations to my organisational abilities and even that will be stretching it a bit. ::)

Do it as a combined OOF ABS meet Ken. Did one a year or two back up here in Essex at a differant cafe to the one we use now.

I'm a member of the BADCC too, I never go to any meets either! I never seem to have time.

Shame it was Cliquey, I've found it a little so in the past, but car clubs seem to get those types.

I'll chat to anyone me.

I'm in Reading too, Woosehill.

Woosehill, right in the ballpark :y I'm up near St Crispins's school,so that's the start of a meet, also I  thought about what Keith ABS says about combining OOF and the ABS together for a meet which sounds sensible :y I'm going with the ABS  to the Classics on the Promenade at Maldon on Sunday and will pick their brains to try and get some sort of outline plan together. :-\

Sounds like a plan.

So, pardon my stupidity, what's ABS?

I will warn you though, I'm quite rubbish at meets, I'm always working or busy doing stuff!

And I wouldn't ever bring the Miggy to a meet as it's a bit of a heap now, I'd bring one of my others.

I'm guessing you have something else to play in as you are a member of BADCC?

Me and the family meet up with few other car guys who are from Bracknell sometimes, and they are very NOT cliquey. We usually meet at the New Leathern Bottle near Warfield and then go for a spin, or not. One has a Dodge Charger, one a 2nd gen Escort, another has a hot rod and a Mustang comes along sometimes too. We are always looking for others to join us.

If you want to PM me a mobile number, I will text you next time we arrange a meet if you wanted to come along?

And I have no idea why when I typed 'Reading' in my last post, it changed to 'Reading' !!!!

That's the attraction of a breakfast meet: about a dozen of us turn up, talk cars for a bit, join whichever wives have come along for some breakfast, have a general chat and then go home. There's no work to be done, and the organisation consists of finding a cafe and setting a date.

Mark did say that he was thinking of doing a Saturday Jungle meet, but looking on facebook it looks like he's really busy work wise :-\ OR is he building himself up for a bit of 'gentle' :o banter from my missus,I'll be grateful to the fact that she's having a go at him instead of me ::)
