wanted pair of handbrake return springs!
« on: 29 July 2009, 11:49:13 »

Just had a look at the back brakes to see what was wrong with the handbrake. One external return spring on the lower arm was broken and the other snapped when I touched it!

The springs are about 4 inches long and 1/4 inch in diameter. Can you help?! I am also after a set of four handbrake shoes but I guess they are better bought new off Ebay unless someone has some good ones.

Postage would be to a UK address in the E. Midlands.

To be honest, I would buy the springs new for the cost.

But I am sure I can take them off the omega I am stripping.

The problem I have here in Spain is that getting parts is such a pain. We live miles from anywhere and when you go to a dealer and get them to get the part and you ask when will it be here, 3 days e.g. so you go a week later and they have either got the wrong thing, or forgotten so you have to go again. That is an 80 mile round trip each time. It is easier and more effective to buy parts mail order!

The other problem is it is our only form of transport!

I see your problem, and I would still buy new, the other springs will probably be as old. You could get them shipped from the UK for very little.

Yes I agree 2nd hand springs would be likely to be as bad. I have scoured Ebay and found plenty of handbrake shoes at reasonable prices but no return springs.

Any suggestions for a place that would mail order both to a Uk address please?
