Omega-B Transponder

This doesn't quite fit any existing thread so here goes:

I am trying to program a new spare key with a brand new transponder chip in it. The existing key works OK with both the central locking and the immobiliser.

I'm using an "My Naff Code Reader" but the question probably applies to a Tech2 as well. I was trying to add the new key as transponder 3 but no luck.

Do I need to erase all transponders and then re-match the good key and add the new one or should I just be able to add the new one?

I should have said that I have the car pass and can access all menus.

Do not attempt to do any programming with that particular code reader, its known to destroy ECUs.

Well it paired the remote with the alarm system,OK.

But I was really asking if one needs to erase all transponders and then re-match the good key and add the new one or should one just be able to add the new transponder irrespective of the programmer in use.

If the motor trade didn't charge such stupid prices for servicing and trivial updates, then the second market items wouldn't be so popular.

The code reader you have bought should cost around £700 from legitimate sources. As you didn't, you get no support from official sources.

The manufacturer of this device are very good a closing down sites that promote the use of illegal copies of this (ie, the £30 egay ones), so we don't allow discussion here.

Your reader does not program in the same way the Tech2 does for Omegas. Hence the number of knackered ATWS ECUs I saw before warning OOFers not to use this kit to do any programming on Omegas. The fact that it will not program the transponder shows that it has already partially corrupted the ECU, or blown the transponder.

My recommendation is to find somebody with the right kit for programming, rather than a reverse engineered piece of shit, reverse engineered from a "not great" piece of kit, reverse engineered from another device.  If you must try, ensure you are running the very latest version - 120309c - although this will purposely destroy the interface if its not genuine.

For info, as I've had a couple of PMs, I charge an insignificant £10 to program keys. It makes no odds to me if people come to me, as a tenner isn't worth the hassle.

My warnings are based on personal experience, not a desire to protect my tech2 work. My agenda is helping keep Omegas on the road, even if it costs me money (which tech2 and running OOF do).
