« on: 10 October 2006, 17:44:36 »

Omega is broke again  >:( EML on again (Waits for AA to hint it may have something to do with the cam sensor  ;D ) And is at the vx dealer again.

VectraC is broke again  >:( £415 spent on new evaporator and its still switching back to petrol when it wants to.

Think i'll flog em and buy a reliable merc diesel  :-/

Oh dear. Sorry to hear this TD. I can really understand you wanting rid of the Omega! I am heading that way myself now after the CDX sprung another leak in the exhaust joint yesterday.

Looks like I may be heading for another Volvo soon, or even another Mondeo - which I hasten to add was a damned site more reliable than ALL the omegas I have had!

It was said a bit tongue in cheek really Ron about getting rid of them......i drove the merc today.....160k and complaining its 16.5k over due a service and it stills drives fine..thats what prompted the merc comment...tho i did tell the usual driver off for not telling me it wanted a service and its being done on Friday  ;)

Well im in 2 minds about this Jaime.....thats why i havent really reared up on the vx dealer before....the omega is still under networkq.....but networkq small print says the warrenty is invalid if used as a taxi....so im not wanting to push it too much....as im sure the dealer knows....and will just say we shouldnt be trying to fix it anyway under waranty  :-X

Suggest strongly that as its had cam sensor errors stored in ecu on a number of occasions now, it would be a quick fix...

Sorry to hear this Dave. I must admit sometimes I feel a bit like saying bo**cks, time to get rid of the Omega when several things go wrong at the same time. Like many Omega owners, I can't do my own work on them so have to pay my local garage to look after it which as we all know can work out a tad expensive :( . Then when it is running well (as it has been since it last service) I think.....nah, love the car too much :-/

I'm still thinking of changing it..........for a later higher spec model when finances allow :y

Overall I like the Omega, but even doing a lot of work myself I don't expect it to be that cheap to run.  If I wanted something cheaper to run I expect that it would have to be a smaller car.  If I had more money, I would look at an 03 Mondeo ST220.  What would other people get if they could afford something 'better' than the Omega (as in similar but more reliable)?

So far the Omega has been very reliable  *touch wood* done over 11k miles in a year its never broken down... no lights that should't be on come on...

Now I have been servicing it myself it runs soo much better, Also now I have access to a Trade card, servicing and parts are cheap.

Its proving cheaper to run than my old M Reg Mondeo! Ok not as good on the go go juice but i did't sit @ 80 all day long on the m40 in the Mondeo, it was too loud, noisey and the vibration was awful.

What makes me smile is my grandad has a '03 Vw Polo 1.4 Auto, he did a few runs to vist us so Motorway miles and grandad speeds of 60/65mph.... his overall mpg was 34!! - I get that sitting @ 80 in the megga  ;D ;D
