Old Log Books - Registration numbers?
« on: 11 October 2006, 23:46:59 »

I've got some old log books, the old buff & green ones, belonging to cars I had way back when. They've got some good old reg no.s, & I was wondering :-/ How do I find out if I'm still the rightful owner of those reg no.s - if you see what I mean? My name is the last entry in the log books, at a previous address which I lived at many years, & the cars were never officially scrapped or notified dead & gone - so?

Cheers, John

wellll....if they were never officialy scrapped, were they officially sorn`ed.
If not sorned and you want to claim to the dvla you own them still...i reckon they would ask for back tax  :(

Old style logbooks, pre Oct 2004 I think, are invalid anyway.

Also, according to DVLA, logbook is not a legal proof of ownership...

To keep the reg number the DVLA may want to see the vehicle before the reg is transfered just a bit of paper isnt enough.

Although ive swapped mine 4 or 5 times now and theyve not looked at either car once.

I still have the origional log book for the car my plate was on in early 70s, complete with the stamps in it that was needed as part of the car tax.

Yes my plate is that old, its the number 1 followed by 3 letters, including the Vanden Plas Princess R it was on my grandparents paid £350 for it  :)
