Hello!
« on: 14 December 2006, 17:44:43 »

Hi everyone,
I thought this could be the place to be - I've had my Omega Reflection 2.5 for the past 2 1/2years, with very little bother, but for the past year its been suffering from the dreaded leaky cam covers. I've cunningly avoided sorting this problem by A- filling it up once every few weeks, and B- ignoring the oily mess every time I park. This worked fine until recently, when it developed a misfire - I suspected it was the fouled plugs that seem to enjoy swimming in those special oil baths vauxhall thoughtfully provide. So I took the opportunity to change the cam covers, clean out the breather system and skin my knuckes while taking out the windscreen wiper system to gain access. Then, after putting it all back together I started the thing up - and the misfire was still there!!! Pulling the plug leads out seemed to reveal that No.1 cylinder had no spark, and putting a spare plug into the lead enabled me to see that there was barely a spark visible - by contrast, pulling out the lead for no.3 plug nearly threw me across the garage, such was the huge bolt of power coming from it!
I therefore jumped in and bought some "ebay special" plug leads, as , even though they're probably not much cop, they would help me identify whether I had lead problems, or whether it was that awful DIS pack problem. And guess what?? It's the DIS pack - the new lead made no difference at all!!

Anyway, Ebay seem to have plenty of new DIS packs available, but fewer used ones. - I need Bosch part no 0221503017, or Vauxhall part no 90541062. Enquiries with breakers seem to result in quotes of £50 ish for used ones of dubious origin, so it hardly seems worthwhile buying used - unless anybody can offer me a used one for about £35??? Let me know!!

Welcome to the forum :y

Can't help you with the DIS pack, but it would be better if you put a post in 'Parts for sale and wanted' section

Welcome to site :)

As Auto Addict has said, may be worth posting in appropriate section that you need a DIS.

Where abouts are you - I may have a (I believe) working DIS in garage if you are local....   ...drop me a PM if you're close...

Hi Spike and welcome aboard  :y You could also try posting your question in the Omega General Help section for a better response. I had big problems with my rocker covers gaskets too and ended up getting the covers replaced aswell as the seals due to warping. Couldn't put up with them leaking for too long for 3 good reasons. Firstly the cost the oil (£10.00 for a litre of GTX Magnatech fully synth), secondly the damn stink where it was dripping on the manifold covers and being sucked into the cabin, and thirdly because of filling the plug wells up with oil.

Anyway good to hear you sorted them out. ;)

Thanks for all the advice so far - I've posted a "wanted" ad in the proper place, so hopefully something will turn up soon.
Thanks All!
