Hi, and thanks
« on: 14 December 2006, 23:10:54 »

Hi all,

In the couple of weeks I've been a member I've had tons of help (even a donated rocker gasket from laidback66 :y).

Finally got my car back on the road tonight after nearly a week. New rocker gasket, oil change, coolant change, dis pack and ht leads.
Doesn't sound a big deal until you factor in trying to diagnose the slight misfire. But thanks to you guys and a few tears, got it sorted.

Just two handy tips I've picked up for those interested. The mysterious breather pipe at the back of the engine is from the auto box and doesnt connect to anything at the top of the engine (thanks again to the forum from this. found someone else had the same cold sweats on a previous post!). Second, when disconnecting the coolant feeds to the throttle housing, do take the time to plug the ends before continuing. Don't have what happened to me where the passenger side pipe jumped across over the engine and began to fill no1 valve chamber with coolant. Please learn from my stupidity  :y

All the best to everyone and a happy Christmas  :)

Simon

Well done that man!!

As a wee experiment, work out (roughly) how many hours you spent doing it, less the time drinking tea and weeping tears of frustration, times £35 (a VERY basic workshop price) and add the cost of the gasket/sealant - a nominal tenner.....  Now buy yourself a Chrstmas pressie.....

OR

Consider what a boost you have given to the confidence of both yourself and others who may read your tale.  Top Job!    :y

admin - worth a wee move elsewhere so others can get a boost by Simons good work, perhaps?
