BBA -reman
« on: 07 May 2010, 15:31:19 »

Just to let you know, in my saga re ABS ECU repair or replacement, the company above will test the unit for £35 plus vat and carriage, and will then repair for £100 plus vat and carriage (which includes the original test fee). This seems really good, though I don't know if it applies to all units as they requested the details from my ABS pump to ensure they could test it.

I know some of you have already used this service - any problems??

Cheers  :y

I would say that I've probably had fifty cars brought to me over the years with suspected ABS ECU failure - haven't needed to change one yet. it always turns out to be something else.

I used BBA last year and was pleased with their service.
As I live very close to them I took my faulty ABS module in and it was repaired and ready for collection in 48 hours...from memory coat was about £115=00 but didn,t need postage so that would be extra.
Solved issues with faulty speedo/tc lights and power steering ....hasnt been a problem since so would recommend them.

Possibly the case normaly but, the Bosch setup on the Omega has a known weakness on one of the main hybrid circuit supply bond wires.

usually turns out to be either wheel sensors or relays.

exactly what are the symptoms here ?

the Bosch 5.3 ABS in Omega B is no different to other ABS 5.3 in other vehicles - it has to be the best-selling ABS by some margin. According to my man at Bosh, there are only software differences.

I might have a spare you can try if you need. Is it an EBD car ?

Symptoms are the same as I have read in other posts. ABS and TC lights come on, and speedo stops working. Also partial loss of PAS. These are intermittent, not always on start up, but does happen on every journey at some point. Sometimes it corrects itself, but mostly not. I haven't tried the sensors yet but intend to in the next day or so, just in case! I'll have to find them first though! Sorry, what is EBD?

I sent mine to BBA a couple of years ago, and they did a quick turn around and it solved the problem!! :y

The only problem is that it takes the car off the road for a while............

You can still use the car without the ABS/TC ECU, just got no ABS/TC, heavy steering and no speedo.... [sarcasm] Oh wait it doen't have that with a failed ECU so no different [/sarcasm] ;) ;D

The presence of an empty space with several disconnected brake pipes suggested to me that it would be off the road............. Was I wrong?? :o :o :o

You're correct if you remove all of it, the ECU can be removed on it's own without taking any brake pipes off :y

You only need to remove the ECU (electronics module) from the side of the ABS valve module so the hydraulic system can remain undisturbed.

I have to say, the symptoms are classic ECU failure, which is common on the Omega.

Begs the question of what is killing them in the Omega setup, because they are certainly prone to failure in this application. :-/
