I can only check a facelift car, but I wouldn't think the earlier cars are any different - the arm with the greater curve from the spindle is the drivers / offside. The passenger / nearside arm is the straighter of the two.

Taking the blade off the arm in order to remove the Dis pack would be somewhat, er, special...  ::)

Whatever you do, don't break it. New ones are expensive:

It's not all bad, he does finance.  ;D ;D  Anyway, that's for the tailgate.  ::) :)
Yeah...the little one. Imagine how much he'd want for a big one  :o

Not really if the scuttle was removed to give more room .... it's been a while now since I did a DIS so can't remember if it does need to come off  :-\

You misread me... Removing the arm is a prerequisite of moving the scuttle.

Removing the blade from the arm is something that you only do to change the blade.

Ergo, as removing the blade as part of removing the scuttle serves no purpose, it stands to reason that the arm with the shorter blade is the passenger one ;)

You'll have to go really slow with the joiner, Al. If he can't saw it or hit it with a hammer, he's a bit stuck.

Having reorganised the garage floor of bits from my dis pack removal task, and ahead of any refit in the future, can someone with a pre-facelift look at their car sometime for me to see which wiper arm is which please.

I *think* the one with the kink is the o/s arm and the straight arm n/s, but I'd like to confirm ahead.

Thanks.

Just checked my Mini-Facelift, and yes one with kink Passenger or O/S and straight arm drivers or N/S (this is from the hinge but you fold up).

The drivers one appears to have a double kink however at the spline or base end and passenger one a single kink at spline end if that helps.

Tother way around, drivers is offside.

::) I did expect many replies - I was going to take the answers from the first two that agreed and hope the thread died out rather than morph but I've lost the plot.

I'm going with the, yes double, kink being the o/s = driver's (rhd) unless someone knows different. [when the time comes]

Why over complicate it?

The driver's blade is 24" and the passenger's is 21" from memory.

If you took the blades off the arms, you have earned the right to get confused ::)

I'd guess that Ed China just has people undoing stuff for him so that he can simply undo bolts that have been under a car in the salt & water for 25 yrs  :y

Well, if you had a beer, and you got in the offside, you'd be in trouble. So best remember.  :P

Yes. Did this too. Ended up with more than more bits than I'd expected and moved them all lock, stock and barrel so I didn't trip over them. Then 'found' an arm.

I hadn't realised the arms were actually quite different lengths.  Touché.  Bend plus added kink arm earmarked for o/s.

I suppose the with the ease of digital photography these days, it could be said that all jobs could/should be photo'd before starting. Though when I've done it at work I often seem to miss the very bit I want to look at later  ;D

The driver's blade is 24" and the passenger's is 21" from memory.

If you took the blades off the arms, you have earned the right to get confused ::)
Drivers (offside) side is 24", 600mm, usually with an air spoiler.
Passenger (nearside) is 19", 480mm. standard blade.
Some makes provide a 450mm for the passenger side, that works fine as well.

The drivers (offside) wiper arm has a stub arm and a hinge. And is kinked.
The passenger (nearside) wiper arm has the hinge by the spindle.
