Best ask one of the mods - it's a bit of a delicate subject :-/

It is not so much delicate, as old news.

The "other" site is www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk

Many of us were members there before a "difference of opinion" on various matters occurred!

As a result of this. I went off and set up www.omegaowners.com with a not inconsiderable amount of assistance from IT hero and all round good guy Jaime (TheBoy), our own "Arfur Daley", Finlay (Ronald McBurger) and the god like figure reverently known as Marks DTM Calib  [smiley=engel017.gif](hallowed be thy name) ;)

We just don't want threads cropping up on this as the split was not entirely amicable (mention us over there and you are in serious trouble!)
While they may wish to act in that way, we prefer to just do our own thing and let them do theirs.
To this end, we closely monitor any threads on the subject.

Put simply. It is history, let's leave it there and concentrate on what we are achieving here. :)

ABS = AutoBahnStormers?

Thought about joining but

a) I dont agree with membership fees as I feel technical info should be public domain (you paid for the car so why shouldn't you get easy access to the detailed stuff!)
b) They are very good for many of the rear wheel drive Opel/Vaux cars but, dont seem to hot on the Omegas
c) I already have trade club!

Yeah, the Autobahnstormers. I joined when I had a Carlton GSI,mainly for the trade club discount at VX dealers and found the forum friendly and informative.A lot of the members own Lotus Carlton/Omegas and discuss the finer points of Lotus ownership at great length, which is very nice,if you can afford a £15K Sunday toy!
A lot of members run Omegas as everyday cars though, and their knowledge of the cars is quite extensive and although the members gallery seems to favour the earlier cars ie Carltons,Monzas, lotuses(Loti?)and the like, there are lots of cherished meegas owned by members.
The club predates web based car clubs by many years, and to be fair, was formed at a time when membership fees were the norm.Mind you you do get four magazines a year and a sticker!

What makes a forum good is not just the technical info available, but the people you meet.... online and sometimes in person. I am spending quite a lot of time here, not because I need that much help with the car - luckily it is fairly new and boringly reliable, and on top of everything it is being serviced by Vx dealer - so I don't really need much help on regular basis. But I love Omegas, and I love even more Ronnie's stories... ;D

I have no issues with 'The Other Place' and still visit once or twice a month.  But I only joined for the technical info there and to share any ICE knowledge I had.

I was never interested in the chat, nor were many others, and we were considered 'outsiders' because of this.  We kept to the Omega section.

When the disagreements occurred and the Omega only forum was set up, I was happy to transfer over.

Can't spend as much time on here as I'd like due to house hunting
