Title: Another Oil Leak.
Post by: New POD on 01 May 2018, 20:30:07
3.2 MV6 Auto 195K

I think it's coming from pipe work at the rear of the engine.  Can't see really, but it's not the rocker gaskets.

Any pointers ?

Are you sure it's not the cam cover seals at the back starting to fail? Could be a crank breather issue. The hoses at the back are for the breathers. It might be the bottom leg of the 'Y' shaped breather hose. There's a hose clip where it connects to the spigot on the breather housing and I've seen one split there, apparently due to old age, and leak some oil. You won't be able to see properly unless you take it off.

The oil cooler is also in the Vee below the air intakes.

Fractured oil cooler pipe is a strong contender if an oil cooler change has previously been bodged ;)

Agreed. If its coming from high up and it isn't cam covers, theres not much else it could be.
Cant see a proper oil leak coming from the breather pipes.

It's not that big a leak, but enough to piss me off.
Can't see far around the back of the engine, due to the fact that some idiot (me) fixed the leaking scuttle panel with aerospace spec sealant and it's never coming off in one piece  :-[

Still the cam belt needs doing soon, so I suppose the plenum inlet manifold will be coming off, and that will aid the visuals
