General Car Chat / Re: DIY air compressor.

Ive a similar sized one- Aldi Special, bought 2nd hand from a colleague for £20.
I wouldnt be without it, and would replace it, prob like for like.
Accept it wont run any tools, I tried and failed.
I find it great for doing tyres, assuming close enough (I can do all 3 cars without moving it)
What I use most, is the air duster, and would buy one just for that, so would stick to the cheap ones knowing they would suit my needs and I'd have to spend a fortune to get anythig decent enough for tool use.
Never tried painting, but you would need other kit like a dryer iirc.

I seem to recall a very common fault on these where the wires snap in the 'protector' between body and door, to the point they did make a repair kit...

As above, its not really something you can login to to clear down.
On your phone, go to settings, your name, icloud
here you will see what is using it, and you can disable bits to make it work if you dont want to delete stuff.
it can backup most your apps, photos, whole phone etc
Its considering what you want your phone to do to enable recovery should it be lost / stolen etc. as well as access to some bits from other devices

we've had two years of dealing with solicitors & estate agents plus pain in the arse housebuyers

I feel your pain Mick, as I've been dealing with estate agents and solicitors for the last couple of years and the levels of incompetence is staggering.  :o  ::)

Useless solicitors especially!  >:(
.

Solicitors not only incompetent but complete liars, both house sales were completed around August the 4th 2022 wifey only received her inheritance on November the 21st, they were stringing her along with insurance  & inheritance tax nonsense while sitting on a pot of cash , in the end I accompanied her on a visit to the Solicitors and insisted the money be in our account within 48 hours   ( very politely for me.) But it should never have to come to that

I’m just about to start a probate application as I’ve just lost both of my parents. Wish me luck.  ;D

Definitly do it yourself, not hard and you don't need solicitors  :y

Actually, you do need a solicitor to notarise the paperwork and get you to swear on the bible (other religious texts are available ) that you haven't told any porkies about the value of the estate.  ::)

When I did it, it took about 10 minutes and cost £10!  :y  I expect they charge £100 these days.  :-\  ::)

You just make the declaration online these days, dead easy.

In that case, same as mine....process is easy ...

I foresee a trip to Flintshire ....  ::) ::)

Sorry missed that.....

Its easy, but takes a couple of hours...If you dont fancy it, happy to try it, BUT IF it goes wrong, I have no way to recover it.
That would likely be a indy / dealer job with their computer.

Essentially you get a map update USB of your current map....But removing the map files
and a 2nd USB of the new map update.

You put in the first USB stick....It says this is the same as youve got, do you want to reinstall, you say yes and it immediately fails as theres no map on the stick.. so it says retry...
You now put the 2nd stick with the new files in, and off it goes happily carrying on without needing a PIN.
sometimes fails a couple of times while applying, but carrys on from where it left off until complete.

No guarantees obviously, but ive done it 3-4 times no problem.

Ill let you know where the files are to put on a USB stick (32 GB, formatted as fat32) if you want to have a go?

.....
Wouldn't put it past them to "think" they are getting updated maps, just because they have the subscription ;D

Getting on for 4 years ago when I bought my ML, Merc updated the COMAND on it to the current maps. They were still way out of date eg the upgraded junction north of Lancaster had been up & running for a good while but wasn't showing on COMAND and IIRC there was a by-pass around Bristol (?) that wasn't showing either. If it'd been my £140 to 'upgrade' it I'd have been p'd off

What version of NTG do you have? and what version are your current maps.  There is a 'way'  I'm up to date and never paid a penny.  The update process is very easily fooled into installing the new maps.
