Omega General Help / Manual gear knob removal
« on: 20 September 2016, 19:37:48 »
I've searched the forum and found loads of posts asking the question, but no actual answer to the brain-teaser that is 'how do you remove an Omega's manual gear knob if you want to replace it with an aftermarket/Irmscher item?'

Any ideas?  :-\

Anybody got a spare gearbox drain plug with magnet going spare? I had to force off my R28 manual transmission's bung with a chisel!

With the Performance Vauxhall Show just around the corner (Sunday June 12th, Santa Pod Raceway), and knowing that some of you will be buying tickets in order to attend/display your cars, I thought it a good idea to share a special offer with you that ranks as one of the best show/mag package deals that I've come across.

Subscribe to Performance Vauxhall magazine (works out at just £21.60 per year to have each issue of the mag delivered direct to your door) and you'll get two FREE show tickets worth £46! That's a ridiculously good deal.

Omega General Help / Will Monaro top mounts fit an Omega?
« on: 29 August 2015, 11:41:35 »
I'm pretty sure that the Monaro top mounts are listed as suitable for Commodores, Carltons etc. I was thinking about continuing my 'fitting Monaro parts to an Omega' mission by getting hold of polyurethane front top mounts (as listed for Monaro VXR). Has anyone (Gixer?) had a bash at fitting them? I thought I'd ask before I had a go myself.

I've got to replace the windscreen on my MV6, which affords me the opportunity to fit the 'auto/rain sensor' glass in place of the regular windscreen. I wondered whether retro-fitting the auto sensor for the wipers was a worthwhile mod? How effective is it on cars that came equipped with the feature as standard, and what would be involved in applying the same feature to my non rain sensor Omega (facelift)?

General Car Chat / No more paper MOT certificates
« on: 07 May 2015, 06:32:50 »
This might not be news to you, but I've been told that the DVLA are no longer issuing paper MOT certificates. Apparently, this is part of its plan to electronically store all information relating to a car (see: road tax!). I know that you can see a car's entire MOT history online anyway, but it would now seem that visiting the DVLA website will be the only way to check the current MOT status of a vehicle.

I learned of this change when I put a new reg plate on my Rolls-Royce, only for the V5C to be returned without an updated MOT certificate. I was told that one wouldn't be forthcoming, but only when I called to query the lack of documentation landing on my doorstep. I don't recall seeing this change being 'advertised' anywhere.

As the title suggests, my PFL '99-plate Star Silver MV6 is destined for the great scrapyard in the sky. All parts available.

Parts already gone:

X30XE engine, loom, ECU
Manual gearbox
Leather seats
Wheels
Various bits of trim
Irmscher lip spoiler

Everything else is up for grabs!

I'll post a list of parts and prices later. For the time being (and for sake of the forum guidelines), rear lights can be yours for £10 each. I also have a variety of OE head units available too. Details to follow.

Mornin' chaps and chapesses!

Is there a 12v ignition feed in my FL MV6's rear cabin/boot space that I can tap into? I couldn't find a conclusive answer when searching the forum.

Cheers m'dears!  :y

What is it about Omegas that makes the bottom rear corner of each door start to perish? It's a strange phenomenon that I haven't been able to understand. I've had loads of Vauxhalls, many of them much older than the Omega (I've got three Cavalier Turbo 4x4s atm), and not one of them has suffered from the dreaded door rot.  :-\

Even facelift Omegas don't seem to be able to dodge this terrible affliction!

Omega General Help / SKF timing belt kit sanity check
« on: 04 March 2015, 14:18:07 »
Hey all. I just took delivery of a timing belt kit for my 3.2 MV6. An SKF kit arrived (no worries there), but I thought I'd post a picture for the purposes of a quick sanity check. I was sure that I should have another roller, some bolts and a cast plate in the kit?! This doesn't look at all right to me!

Omega Gallery / humbucker's 2004 Irmscher MV6 #irmscherMV6
« on: 15 January 2015, 10:50:38 »
As some of you will already be aware, my 2004 Irmscher MV6 project has (finally) kicked off and is being featured in the 'Staff Cars' section of Total Vauxhall magazine. Each month, a detailed report will highlight the ups and downs that I experience as work progresses. Needless to say, I'm hoping for more good than bad!

I have a dedicated Facebook page and a Twitter feed active with sneak peeks and short updates (details that follow magazine publication). Follow/like 'em if that's your bag:

A complete set of rear lights for the Omega. Ideal for those want to smoke a set without affecting their original lamps, or for those looking to replace a damaged lens or two.

Yours for £45 delivered  :y

As the title suggests, I'm selling a full set of MV6 door cards complete with mint condition carbon trim. The door cards themselves are in mint condition too (although could probably benefit from a wipe down), apart from a small nick in the nearside rear (pictured). This is barely noticeable when on the car, and the pic makes it look worse than it is. Would easily fill/colour out.

To be clear, this sale is for the door cards and does not include the speakers (although I'll throw the speaker grilles in if required).

£40. Delivery by courier likely to be sub £10.

I'm also selling the centre console carbon trim in mint condition (see here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=125426.0). I can combine postage on all items. An ideal time to spruce up your car's interior with a full set of MV6 carbon trim!  :y

Punch 'Greggs' into Google and enjoy their new corporate identity while it lasts...

Excellent condition AR35 automatic gearbox removed from my Irmscher MV6. Only ditching it as I am converting the car to manual transmission.

Works perfectly, gear changes smooth, no problems whatsoever. Removed from 3.2 V6, but would suit 3.0 etc.

£75 collected from Cambs (they're going for £200 on the 'Bay!  ;D)
