It technically isn't, in that the ballot paper tally and electoral roll are on separate pieces of paper... But it doesn't take a genius to match them up.
OK, it has a unique number printed on the ballot paper, which allows whomever runs the vote to see the name and address associated with that unique number.

Surely they would only do that if they wanted to store and us that data.  Added to that, lets face it, the civil service don't have a good reputation of securing any data, so I assume it will be available to anyone soon.

If you wanted to mess with it, you only need to know any person's full name and address to vote, and as long as you vote before them, job done. Don't even need a polling card, so actually traceability is the least of your issues...

A couple of hours with a phone book and a decent map would probably allow you to cast a vote at at least three local polling stations before 8 am. Not sure what the punishment would be if you were caught :-\

No. My point being they have a record of who I voted for.

Theoretically speaking, but they aren't counted where you voted, so the two pieces of paper should never meet again once you have been handed your ballot paper  ;)

Have just bothered to check and the local Tory got in with an increased majority of almost 25k. That makes me spoiling my ballot slip totally irrelevant.  ;D

How do we know that though? I imagine the voting profile and demographics is very valuable....
