General Car Chat / Why would you.......?
« on: 28 June 2017, 19:38:48 »
Obviously a hell of a car, but why make all the mechanicals look like they came from a lego factory ?
Kind of spoils it imo.

General Discussion Area / RIP Greg Allman.
« on: 27 May 2017, 22:22:14 »
Just heard on the news that he died today. A long time musical hero of mine. One of the great American bluesmen. Not many great musicians left.  :'(  :'(

How someone just out of their teens can sing like this is beyond me.

RIP Greg, and thanks for all the wonderful music.

Would like to fit a pair on the outlets on the back box. Any info on best place to source them. Used to get them from time to time at lidl or Aldi but haven't seen them there for years. Also, what diameter ? Save me measuring.  ::)

SKY news is reporting an explosion at the ends of a pop concert at Manchester Arena. Several fatalities confirmed.
Details sketchy so, far but sounds bad.  :(

I could be tempted if I could buy it and get it here for a three figure sum. That might end up in my car being given similar treatment though.  ;D

General Discussion Area / Nicky Hayden
« on: 18 May 2017, 23:11:17 »
I know there are a few bikers and people interested in bike racing on here, so thought I would post about this.
Nicky Hayden, former world champion, Repsol Honda MotoGP rider, and current WSB rider had a very serious accident while cycling with friends in Italy a few days ago.
Apparently a head on with a car at speed. He is in intensive care with very serious brain injuries and is said to be in an extremely critical condition.
Sad to say, it doesn't look at all good.  :(

General Car Chat / Front parking camera.
« on: 10 May 2017, 23:42:36 »
Swmbo hates parking the Omega as she cant see the front of it, which is fair comment as neither can I.
I must admit I'm always slightly nervous when parking front end on to the front of another car in supermarkets and the like, as I like to get the rear end off the road if possible, but cant see exactly how close I could get to the car in front.
Anyhoo, I am considering installing a little camera in either the front grill or bumper.
Anyone got any experience / recommendations etc ?
Tia.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Which Navdisc ?
« on: 30 April 2017, 17:28:24 »
My NCDC unit doesn't seem to like my genuine navdisc, but works fine with a copied disc I have. I assume this means the genuine disc is scratched or faulty in some other way, so have been having a look at discs for sale on the interweb.
There seems to be a variety of discs - cd50 / cd70/ cd500 etc.
Question is, which of these will or wont work ok in a NCDC unit ?
Tia.

General Car Chat / Range 72 miles.
« on: 29 April 2017, 14:30:45 »
That's what it said on my CID on Wednesday. A certain admin looked at the fuel gauge and declared the new settings will take a while to sort themselves out, because even Tunnie couldn't get 72 miles from that.
Well, yesterday after actually getting 74 miles of driving from it, I drove onto a forecourt with the range showing as 1 mile.  :P ;D
Average consumption currently around 28mpg. A lot less country lane driving than usual over the last few days though.
Going to give it a sound thrashing later and get it down to more normal levels.  :D

General Discussion Area / Big thanks to TB
« on: 26 April 2017, 16:47:56 »
Who very kindly gave up his lunch break today to meet up with me to sort out my NCDC issues with his Tech 2.
NCDC is now exactly how it should be, and climate fan has been "calmed down". All systems on the car given a check over while the machine was plugged in.
An absolute gentleman (despite his angry reputation  ;D)
Many thanks Jaime.  :y :y :y

If time hadn't have been an issue we could have made the event the inaugaral meeting of the MCC (mass cull committee), but that can wait a while.  :D

I was pretty impressed with his pussy too.  :)

Omega General Help / cranks sensor - or not ?
« on: 08 March 2017, 18:51:16 »
Driving along today and the car suddenly cut out. wouldn't restart. Spanner light was on. After approx. 15 minutes it fired up as normal, with spanner light off, but did exactly the same less than a mile later. Left it again for 15 minutes (noticed spanner light was flashing at one point, but mostly just constantly lit) and it fired up again.
Same thing happened again less than a mile away, so gave up and called recovery truck.
I have just plugged my maxscan code reader into the car and found no stored or pending codes.
I'm pretty sure its crank sensor, but wanted opinions on whether it could be anything anything else ?
Tia.

Oh, by the way, anyone know the part number for 3.2, 2002 crank sensor. Save me searching. Cheers.  :)
