Omega General Help / 2.2 MPG.. What should it be?
« on: 25 June 2009, 11:22:05 »
My 2.2 has always averaged about 26mpg mixed urban/motorway driving and I've never really thought anything of it.. But I  noticed the other day that my mate with a 3.2 Vectra is getting similar mpg so mine must be terrible  ;D

It runs perfectly and it is regularly serviced, are the 2.2's just really bad?

Omega General Help / Water leak in passenger footwell
« on: 10 November 2008, 10:54:46 »
I was in a convery belt carwash on sunday and some old fart stalled at the end and couldnt start his car so I was stuck under the water spray bit for about 5 minutes.. I started hearing water inside the car and I noticed water dripping from under the dash into the passenger footwell, I turned off the air recirc and suddenly about a litre of water came gushing in and started sloshing about in my footwell..

Has anyone else experienced a leak like this before?  ;D

Omega General Help / Heated seats head ache!
« on: 06 August 2008, 22:23:10 »
I've just fitted some 99 MV6 seats to my 01 CD.. I've had to swap over the seat belt tensioners but everything else plugged right in.. Problem I've got is my heated seats are on constantly! I've pulled the little control unit out of the standard CD seats but it has four wires to the heat pads not one.. After looking on TIS the Thick red and brown wires are for the heat elements and the brown and black/white wires are for the temperature sensor..  However the MV6 seats have 3 wires, Two browns and a black..

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 99 MV6.. TIS only goes back to 2001 and my Haynes Manual shows only two wires on the late models not three :(

Cheers!

Omega General Help / Face lift omega & traction control
« on: 03 July 2008, 12:00:12 »
I just 'raped' a 02 omega of any goodies I could save from it before it went to the great scrap heap in the sky..

One of the things I removed was the TC switch.. I know on the later solid state ECU's (Simtec 5.6/Motronic 1.5.5) TC is controlled by the ECU so my question is can I just stick the switch in my Omega CD  (its got the wiring etc) and it will just work? I assume I also need to fit a bulb in the dash?

Thanks for any info :)

Omega General Help / Sudden rough idle.
« on: 30 January 2008, 19:29:09 »
I've got a 2.2 Omega and its been good as gold until I came off the motorway today stop at a round-a-bout and when the revs dropped it was running rough as hell.. Revs fluctating between 300 and 1500 rpm, but as soon as I touch the throttle its fine..

I've removed the coil pack and theres no oil. The manifold sounds a little rough, cant see any cracks but I can see that a new manifold as recently been fitted and the front studs have been replaced with bigger than standard items. Could a blown exhaust gasket be causing this?

Cheers  :y

Omega General Help / 2.2 Petrol - Fuel Trim Low (Bank 1) Error
« on: 10 January 2008, 11:23:47 »
Getting this error, but only when cold.. The O2 sensor has been replaced. My money at the moment is on a clogged fuel filter but we havent tried that yet..

If I reset the MIL light once its warmed up the light doesnt come back on, but when you start from cold after a 100 meters or so on she comes!

Any ideas ? :)

Cheers!

Omega General Help / Omega 2.2 Cruise Control
« on: 09 January 2008, 12:55:44 »
I've just bought a 2001 2.2 Auto CD with the later fly-by-wire management..

Would I be correct in saying if I get a cruise stalk and the brake switch the cruise control should work?

Cheers!

Omega General Help / Climate Control - Technical Info Needed
« on: 21 September 2006, 08:36:04 »
I'm just trying to get my head around the interface between the climate control and the ECU.

There is a 9 pin connector (6 pins used) in the relay box that is for the A/C / climate control.

I've identified the pins as follows:

PIN      COLOUR            DESCRIPTION
01      BROWN/GREY      Secondary Air Intake Relay (Pin 6) & (Simtec ECU Pin 50)
02      BLACK/BLUE      A/C Revolution Acceleration Switch (Simtec ECU Pin 9)
03      BLACK/BLUE      Bulk Head Connector (Pin 17)
04      BLACK/WHITE      A/C Pressure Switch (Simtec ECU Pin 23)
05      BROWN/VIOLET      A/C Compressor Relay (-12v) Bulk Head Connector (Pin 16) (Simtec ECU Pin 34)
06      RED/WHITE      12v+ ECU Relay

So pin 1,2, 4 and 5 all go to the ECU. Pin 1 is useless; I assume pin 5 informs the ECU A/C is switched on, pin 2 informs the ECU the compressor is active and pin 4 tells the ECU the compressor working at nominal pressure?

Now my big problem is I need to find the corresponding three pins on the Motronic M1.5.5 ecu, does anyone have an in-depth knowledge of these systems, I'm slightly dubious about guessing and blowing up my M1.5.5 ecu  ;D

General Discussion Area / Black backed head lights.
« on: 04 February 2008, 15:55:44 »
Has anyone ever 'back blacked' their head lights on an omega? It looks really good on other models (astra etc) and I'm very tempted to do it as my chromey front lights stick out like a sore thumb on my dark green omega..

I've seen it done on other marques.. Just a case of splitting the head light, masking off the important reflective bits an dpainting the rest matt black.

General Discussion Area / 2000/1 2.0 16v Wiring Diagram (Simtec)
« on: 18 September 2006, 08:37:31 »
I'm building the ECU loom for my turbo conversion and I have been trying to bungle my way through with the 1999 Simtec diagram in the Haynes manual but the climate control on the face lift model is completely different and now I'm stumped :(

Does anyone have a detailed circuit diagram for a Face lift X20XEV Omega with Simtec management.

Thanks!

Do any models come with an air->oil cooler or is it only the V6's that come with heat exchangers?

Cheers!
