Omega General Help / Re: wet in boot
« on: 17 December 2023, 01:14:06 »
mine has the bungs with the centre hole in ( moulded not drilled !) also had some water in hence needed seam replacing on one side .
as mentioned you will need to get in boot and have someone hosepipe you. not nesesarrily at full pressure either. check seal edges, light clusters, grommet for wiring ,body seams and also the double skinned area of metal just below the bottom of the screen. in the corners.
water leaks are a bugger to find and dont be suprised if you sit there for ages and dont see a drop !

This was my alloted job as an apprentice mechanic in ford during the early 90s, you can imagine how busy I was and how many mk4 esc-rots and mk3 fiestas I'd stripped full interiors out of!

I am getting a wet boot carpet. There is no obvious reason for this but can only  think that the rubber seal is letting water in.I will have to climb into the boot while water is sprayed onto the rear screen. Any other ideas?

I had (and still have presumably) a leak into the spare wheel well that I couldn't trace (well just being lazy) that and the fact it didn't always happen when it rained. Best bet as you say, get in the boot with a light and someone hosing the back end.

Omega General Help / Re: GM 9129570 with Norma Clip
« on: 25 November 2023, 01:32:50 »
Is there a GM part number and/or an Opel KAT number on the hose?
And does your car have the cold weather package?
Just trying to work out if your hose is the same as the standard model.

How is your connector broken? Last one I tried the collar was very difficult to move until I thoroughly cleaned it. If it's just the green locking ring then I understand that can be omitted?

I checked up what that green ring clip is for and it's only used at manufacture apparently, not sure if you need to use it when refitting but i didn't. I remember seeing them lying loose on the metal pipe just after the hose clip thinking something was not fitted correctly. I think it's just to hold the snap clip open so they can be installed and then they pop off or something.

Is it the hose from the matrix to auxiliary water pump or the other one that goes to the back of the block? I managed to source a new one of the longer pipe as I'd broke the clip. I think the number is 9129570

No. 5 here:

On the same diagram, I think pipes 6 & 7 are the other matrix pipe, 6 being the non-AC pipe and 7 being the one with A/C.

it had what looked like a blue paint line between the screw and body
As in threadlock?  I would expect threadlock on that sort of thing :y

No, it was over the top of the screw head onto the body like an anti tamper mark.

Those 2 screws that hold the regulator on; I had to grind into the side of one of the screws as the screw wouldn't budge, suspect it had been "reconditioned" before but couldn't be sure, it had what looked like a blue paint line between the screw and body. Changed the regulator anyway for peace of mind.

I agree there would be much less conflict if religion never existed.

Then there'd be aetheism, lgbtq, just stop oil, BLM and that would be that!

Fk all will happen in a country where shoplifting has become an acceptable profession.
If you need to see where we're heading go to Vancouver, Seattle or San Francisco.

The newly opened judgement free drug zone, or whatever the marketing wank title for it is, in Glasgow is the epitome of all that's wrong with lefty socialist thinking.

The other name for jagging up clinics in Glasgow is the bus shelter!

I forgot about that comprehensive fan test, will get a look at it, cheers

Just changed the rad and condensor on my elite, changed the radiator fan switches as well, and now when I let i tickover to heat up both the front fans and the backside fans kick on at the same time - about 90 on the guage then cools down to about 80 - is it not the front fan first then the other 2 at the front when it gets really hot?

Before I done this work I noticed the front fan came on but the temp just sat at 90 with the front fan running for ages and never really turning off, the 2 front fans never came on it just sat about 90 degrees.

Granted it now cools down much quicker so it's not really a issue in itself just wondering why both fans come on at the same time.

I get this sometimes on mine, I've sometimes got to "shoogle" the selector when in "N" and it then turns over.

Oddly enough, there's a guide ;D

Thanks I missed that. The interior is already full spec elite heated rear and all that. Not sure if swap still going ahead but I've never been a fan of black leather (In a car anyway  :y)

Trim code is XXLS, the seats are black but the glovebox handle looks more dark grey, I am colour blind so not sure if it's actually listed as black?

I also just found that I can still open the glovebox but the handle is like it has came off one of it's hinges. Is it easier to get to mechanism inside the glovebox lid?
