General Car Chat / Re: dealer vehicle service history question

My Dad had my CD before me and while the books were stamped and the work was always done he never kept any old invoices or MOT certificates, when I took over the cars care I went to the local VX dealer (Underwoods of Tiptree) and while they couldn’t provide duplicate invoices they gave me a nice fat print out of all the work the car had prior to my stewardship and I’ve now got a second VX service folder full of every invoice for every job since.

As in the dance group?, for my part I’m dreading autonomous driving.
It sounds like enthusiasm is being slowly taken from keen drivers.

I know she’s hit something in the road at a pace to dent one down pipe reducing its efficacy, I’m not sure how this has impacted performance as it’s the original system from the factory.
I thought the fella on line was optermistic about the price, double what I expected and by the sound of it far more than anyone on here would expect to pay.

I bought a copy of practical classic last week and was pleased to see they among others like honest john are beginning to be tip the V6 Omega as a future classic.
They are running a 3.2 Elite on there fleet and are sighting the rise in Senator prices as a reason to buy Omega's now while prices are low.

« on: 28 October 2017, 17:59:56 »
over the past few weeks I’ve been driving around thinking the Omega sounded a bit louder than useual, mostly when at cruising speed.
I thought it was just me until the other week when I started her round at a mates house and he commented that she sounded a bit throaty.
Knowing there’s a couple of dents in both down pipes, the centre box sounds like a charity tin and the shealding is braking around both cats so I’m thinking she’ll need a complete system.
Any one on here got experience of costed etc, I did see a compleat system at £1000 for parts alone?

I had a VXR and that weaped a small amount through the top breather pipe but I never needed to top that up between services.

The question is, would quick fit try charging a fella the same amount or even keep them waiting that long for the same job?
It seems that places like this trade on the rather sexiest view women know little about cars and can be baffled with scare tactics to spend extra money fixing things that don’t need doing.

I popped over to see a mate yesterday and help tidy up his Audi, didn’t take long to get my omega in the air and all the wheels  off.
It didn’t take too long to get the wheels cleaned inside and out, the arches cleaned and suspension polished so she looks like a new car.
The bad news is that she’s sounding a little throaty of late and needs a new exhaust and with the wheels off it would seem she needs 4 new Dunlop’s and the tracking needs a tweak.

I popped over to a mates this morning to help sort his Audi and somehow my omega spent a fair while in the air having the wheel arches cleaned and suspension polished. The wheels all got the same treatment, polished inside and out.
The bad news is she needs 4 new boots and a complete exhaust system by the sound of it as she’s a bit raspy!

Now Vauxhall/Opel are owned by the French is it possible to have a VX Holden tie up?
Where will Vx’s top of the range performance barge come from?

I seem to recall omega's  wearing mitchelins from the factory and my local dealer even put them on my corsa SRi but I found they didn't grip predictably in the wet, every car I've had since has had its boots replaced by Dunlops.
They seem quieter than michelins or conti's and I've found them consistente in handeling in all weathers, they said the best way to improve a vectra's handeling was to swap michelin nct 5's
