General Car Chat / Engine crane bought
« on: 12 November 2020, 07:15:13 »
I'm not sure how many of you tinker these days as you are all ageing  ;D I have bitten the bullet and bought myself an engine crane and spent a bit of time looking at reasonably priced options, on recommendation I plumped for this one from SGS engineering at £174 delivered, to say it is heavily engineered is an understatement and I was very impressed with it for the price after having previously borrowing similarly priced ebay specials which were a bit wobbly/shoddy to say the least.

Maybe the OOF other halves are struggling to find a pressie for you ?

Omega General Help / Re: Complete dash removal
« on: 12 November 2020, 07:07:24 »
DG is right it was a parts request, X20XEV engine going to someone wanting to do a transplant into a corsa ( God knows why  :o ) guy was asking for the full loom to use the immobiliser but has now found a bypass solution.

The whole loom for that?? I'd have to check with Ian, but I think he added 5 from the ECU plug into the car to work the immobiliser, OBD port and rev counter on his MGB. As a Corsa probably already has those and an engine ECU, all of which will be similar to Omega ones, your customer is making things really difficult....

I think he has seen the light and will be dong something similar, I haven't broken a 2.0 before and was surprised by the enquiries for the engine and it's loom, I assume this engine is the poor mans redtop but they are unobtainable these days I believe

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Breaking PFL 2.0 pet Z146
« on: 09 October 2020, 14:23:03 »
I don't expect much demand but this is in for breaking and as a PFL may have a few bits for any older Migs still in existence, shame really as it runs/drives like a dream and has only done 500 miles since last MOT but it is essentially worthless as a car.
Manual gearbox sold

Front solenoids each £25 posted

If a button isn't working i'd take it apart and clean the copper tracks with a dab of aftershave on a cotton bud, switches themselves if the rubber coating is worn through they can be popped out and swapped with spare ones from scrapyard passenger and rear switches

Those areas back in the days of Yore were very posh indeed, I have partaken in several beverages in the Willobank Tavern over the years

Best I can do is one from a 2.5 estate
