Pet smells

Previous owner of my car had a small dog. I have at last got rid of the little white hairs that were everywhere
so now need to get rid of smell, any ideas please. Have posted this on here as it must be a general car problem
and not just a Miggy one. :-\

Start with a new interior! , quite hard to eradicate but I went through one with a rug doctor machine from B&Q which helped a lot

I'd say it's impossible to get shut of a dog smell. I had a crappy Astra estate that'd been used as a kennel for a large Alsation dog. I tried all sorts to get rid of the smell. I had various parts of the interior out & shampoo'd & jet washed them ..... just as I thought I'd done it, the weather would be nice, I'd open the door & get slapped round the nose by the whiff of damp dog.

Although I'd like to think my Merc doesn't smell of Molly the Mutt ...... I bet others would disagree  :-\

My dog travels in a cage in the back, doesn't get near the seats. Still smells a bit.

not sure whether this is right but I seem to remember that one of the old household chemicals removed pet odour, I think its bicarbonate of soda, or maybe even just soda.

A car that's been smoked in is the same.  My Merc's previous owner was obviously a smoker and after being left shut up for a while it stinks when opened up again!  :(

I got an "aircon-bomb" - basically a small aerosol spray with a locking spray nozzle. close the windows, turn on the blowers on recirculate, push the spray down (and it locks on and empties the aerosol), leave for 10 minutes, and it de-odorises and disinfects the entire car.

Repeat a couple of times, and car seems to stay fresh-smelling.

Got to admit, this was coupled with a complete valet including a "carpet fresh" and febreze.

vinegar has worked for me
buy a couple of bottles but it in a couple of containers leave for a couple of days and the smell goes.
