General Car Chat / Re: M5
« on: 24 February 2023, 20:53:21 »
I try to train my brain not to tell my bladder it's time to let go five yards from the bog  ;D This can be after a two/three hour journey, the brain is just three or four seconds ahead of itself.

It's strange how your bladder seems to know that you are approaching the loo and the urge to go gets stronger the closer you get.  ::)

Is this an age thing?  :-\  ???                                      :D
funny how an enquiry re the A5 has turned into a peeing thread , tho having a enlarged prostrate I know all about the urgency problem . yes re my trip to Brixham my daughter has contacted me about our planned stay in Devon , I thought it was in the near future but its not whilst the 28th June, her birthday is on the 29th & she happens to share it with one of my sons .A yesr between both of them. the lad being the elder.    :y

General Discussion Area / Santander Scam
« on: 03 February 2023, 14:52:45 »
has anybody received a message supposedly from Santander saying " Did you try to buy something from Argos for £359 if you did enter the 6 digit code to authorise the transaction. If it wasn,t you call Santander on 03330067715.  i got it yesterday but i have never banked with that bank. anyway i googled it & came across an article by Martin Lewis warning its a scam. he warned not to ring the number . but I think the scam would only work if Santander was your bank.

Pity you never included this information in your first post.
So.....you can't do a speed awareness course because you've done one within the last three years. And the reason you haven't got any points is not because you haven't transgressed before, but because you've already used your get out of jail card.
Sheesh.....whatever happened to the English language?
i never knew about the 3year thing & even if I did it seemed longer than the 3 yrs , Will that do you

Repeated because the quoting function appears to have been well and truly butchered in the previous post.

38 in a 30 speed limit would surely qualify for a speed awareness course, especially being your first speeding offence? You are narked about getting points, so I'm surprised you didn't take up the offer of one, or were you not offered one...?
https://www.askthe.police.uk/faq/?id=f4dfaac6-4575-ec11-8943-0022480702b6

Yes I know that ::)....it's the basic info re eligibility for a  speed awareness course. Ray mentioned that he was peeved about the points....
Maybe there was some of the criteria that wasn't met that resulted in a course not being offered and the 3 points and the fine. But a basic speeding offence at that quoted speed with no other offences on a first offence and providing the offender accepts the offer, then a speed awareness course ought to be offered. Force policy does vary from region to region but they are all pretty standard at 38mph. Most forces allow infringements of 10% plus 2 mph, which I understand was from the days when speedos weren't accurate as today to allow a percentage for speedo inaccuracy.
quote :    i did ask if it was possible to do a speed awareness course. i got a letter back today explaining why. this was within the three years since i had one (only by 6wks) so no excuses.    Paid up __

General Car Chat / facebook scam
« on: 21 January 2023, 21:41:41 »
has anyone heard of this scam. an old friend will contact you via facebook & after the niceties tells you that they received a large sum of money from the DHHS that he never had to pay back, In his case it was £80,000. He also told me that he saw my name on the beneficiary list & sent me a link to contact the agent . A person called Susan C Fitgerald . he kept inquiring if I,d contacted her. My suspicions made me think some thing was amiss, but I did contact her. ( I couldn.t contact by  for her via ordinary ways, I had to use the F.B link)  she replied almost immediately asking for full name, address, email & contact number. after a very short time I was told that the beneficiary list & I too was going to receive £80k. Eventually I was asked to go to a store & purchase an Apple gift card for the sum of £200 & contact her when I have it. Needless to say ive not done that now I am getting messages telling me Fedex have the money in a box & it will be delivered 4hrs after they have the details off the apple card which is supposed to be for stamp duty, the D.H.H.S stands for dept .health human sources which i have found out its an american benefit source.

Why is the country being run (🤣🤣). Fkd up would be better I suppose, by all Rich people, surely some people who have more moderate wealth such as maybe a couple of hundred thousand would be far more in touch with what is happening and what is needed by the majority of the population.
Money may not buy everything possible but buying control of a country shouldn’t be one of them. Just to add Zack is a Tw’a7.
too right, Billy Connolly did say those that desire to be a mp  should be barred for life from becoming one, i agreed back then & i agree now ,
And what would that solve? A load of people who don't want to do the job would be even less effective.
i think you missed the point.

i have just updated my Garmin . on my laptop & using garmin express it estimated for a update of maps it would take 1hr 40mins but it actually took a lot less.  my daughter who lives in Hampshire has recently moved to a new house that her husband had built for them. they did have a static caravan & 2 mobile caravans on the land at one time & when it was my daughters 50th they put a marquee on site for a big do. i managed ok to get to Bordon Hants before i put the postcode in my cars nav. I set off but all it did was send me in a circle, 3 times i ended up at a car park near to where I,d set off from. the predicament I was in the only phone number i had was my daughters but as it was a surprise do phoning her was not an option. Luckily a grandson spotted me & all turned out ok.

since having this french  car I have always had problems putting post codes into the satnav. apparently its something to do with the french only using 4 digits & advising using longitude/. latitude co-ordinates. i believe some owners have installed other satnav systems on theirs so going to look down that route
i do have a decent Garmin which has free updates available that i have installed in the past tho I would rather be able to use the in car one,..when I first bought this motor i did go back to the dealers & asked for somebody to show me what I may be doing wrong & the guy sat next to me for quite a while . nor could he put s post code in.

Is he replacing the sensor then?
if faulty it will be changed. the warnings have never appeared  whilst mobile & because of that i am not sure , I would have thought if the nox is kaput the warning would appear every time i started the car,
