Its definitely a MIC with the phone kit (if you still have the phone dock).

But if you want to use another phone/handsfree kit, then it will most prob come with a MIC?  :y

AFAIK, the wires should lead to a unit behind the glovebox, the 4wires coming out from that unit:
1-mic 2-speaker (phone brand) 3-power 4-mute(stereo)

Just a thought for flexibility you can look into bluetooth car kits? (iv got a nookia ck-7w)  :y

Facelift mics can be used with Nokia carkits - simply use the prewiring plug taped above glovebox.

Mics fitted to CCRT700 equipped cars cannot be used with Nokia kits

Retail 3.2 would have had either phone prewiring, or have a Telematics unit.

it did have a phone kit on it, but the wires you mentioned below the glovebox didnt find them  :(
Hence had to go use the new kits mic.  ;)

so will this plug need altering or is it a jack plug? :-?

If not used the prewiring will still be taped up with masking tape to the loom tray above the glovebox.

You'll need an Autolead / Telemute lead 06-109B to interface with the prewiring.

All of the ones with phone prewiring (So that's saloons with a twig on the roof (1/4 Wave colinear) and estates which have two or three coax's feeding the base.

NB. Bose equipped cars are supposed to have the matching transformers installed as well.

I think you may be right. I bought the 06-109B lead from DaveDND and it seemed to work both with or without the Autoleads matching transformer (so I took it out again and left it in the box).

FWIW I tried using the interior light mic and couldn't get any life out of it so I fitted the mic that came with my Nokia CK7W. I ran the lead up behind the plastic trim on the A pillar and the velcro on the back of the mic hangs onto the headlining material like sh1t to a blanket quite securely.

Yep, that's the Microphone for Telematics not third party phone kits. I'm not sure of the part number (No access to the information at the moment) however someone hopefully can confirm the correct part no.

I seem to recall the Telematics one has the part number on a green sticker and the other type has the part number on a orange sticker.

I didn't fit my transformers that came from Dave with the Saab lead, seemed to make no audible difference so I didn't bother- have since used them on something completly different!

As for it not working, mine didn't work first time either, unplugged/plugged a few times & was fine, think the multipin wasn't seated correctly.

Mine didn't come with the mic (no idea why as the rest of the cabling was there), am debating stripping the Nokia mic out of it's shell to fit in the light as I've run it up next to the int. light anyway, along with the display (ck-15w)
