just changing the above? as i know nothing about them or cars, just gotta check, is oil going to come out everywhere?

I done my crank sensor last week.

Although there's a seal on the sensor body, with the front near side of my car up on an axle stand the angle of lean stopped anything coming out. (I couldn't honestly tell you if any oil would leak anyways)

I certainly didnt lose any oil.

Have you checked the loom connector matches on the new sensor?

good good, it was the seal that worried me! yeah, checked the connector before i bought the sensor its ok! thanks

Cool.

It takes longer to remove the scuttle, jack the car up and remove the f/n/s wheel than it does to change the sensor!!!!!

I routed the new sensor lead through the brake pipes by the abs pump/thingy to keep it clear of hot bits

yeah same here, good old cable ties! they could make the lead a bit longer to make it a bit easier though! was a bit worried to find a metaal heat sheild floating around wedge between pipes not attatched to anything

dosent look like there is much I can do to fix it without dismantling half the engine!

I did mine with the car only slightly raised an no oil was released from the engine.  Also, I did not need to remove the scuttle - I could get at the connector okay.

I have done it now.
Thanks. I had to remove the scuttle, it was jam packed with pipes and clipped below.

How do i Resut the ECU to remove the codes? just disconnect the battery for a while?

No, it will take 25ish clean starts to clear it self, the battery trick does not work.

I was lead to believe by others on here that if the fault is fixed then there's no faulty signal to the ECU thus nothing to display via the EML? ? ?

My crank sensor broke down, car still running but running very bad, the code was stored but there was no EML.... I think its been said before to carry a paperclip in your glovbox and dont wait for the EML!
