Looks like it was caused by the aux. battery being low, seems fine now :y

But why was it low?

Aux. battery wasn't low, I misdiagnosed it.

Seems like the parking brake mechanism needs a good service.

Been parking on the flat and not using the parking brake - everything works fine.

But doesn't 'hold' use the normal foot brake system & not the hand/parking brake

yes :y

So Barry has mis-mis-diagnosed the fault   ;)
Silly old duffer  ;D

Less of the old :P

The main starter battery has started to lose it's charge, the aux. battery reads 13.1v.

Not using the parking brake, which is sometimes difficult to release, seems to have 'cured' the 'HOLD'.

I suspect, that the parking brake was not fully releasing, affecting the 'HOLD' system.

That's my theory anyway.

A job for when the weather get's a bit warmer.

The abs sensor might pick up that the wheel speed is off for the known conditions (ie hand brake released/brake pedal/gear/ throttle positions etc) but the parking brake is mechanically identical in operation to the Omega one... The only difference being the fact that it's foot operated rather than hand operated ;)

Ignoring the parking brake servicing is an open invitation to more expensive repairs including the wheel bearings...
