Omega General Help / MV6 Autobox hard shift.Fault code
« on: 29 August 2021, 19:51:53 »
Hi all hope everyone is doing well.On my Mv6 2.6 i have noticed that it is shifting hard between 2nd and 3rd. On OB2 fault code says P1625 short to earth and in the live data one of the shift solenoids 2 4 when in park and engine is running is active. Is that  the problem is a short on the casing inside the autobox on one of the solenoids causing it it shifts late and a bit hard.many Thanks Gavin. :-[

Omega General Help / Fault sorted
« on: 26 February 2021, 18:36:18 »
Hello everyone, Had a good look at the car yesterday and today turned out to be water ingress via the windscreen seals and the scuttle.Looked in bank 2 4 6 after i pulled the coil pack which was really wet and a tiny bit corroded and there was water in one of the plug wells.Cleaned it up and have ordered a new coil pack as it has seen better days.Meanwhile i took the scuttle off and cleaned along the glass and seal then put a bead of windscreen sealant along it and put the seal back making sure it was down and sealed.Short to earth i suppose, as well as p0304 misfire on bank 2 4 6 causing electric problems.Drives fine now, will be looking in summer for someone to do a cambelt on it if anyones up for it. Im in kent.I have got the dvd but dont wanna get stuck on it. PS Saw a wicked Capri in the garage today with a Granada 2.8 Lump in it lol. Thanks Gavin  :y

Hello everyone, hope all the members are good in these testing times. The old girls still going but i have drivers side inner tyre wear and i can hear it rubbing on turning.Ride height looks ok, no clunks or knocks, pulls to the left a little, plus there isnt much room between the shock and the tyre on both sides. Is it spring wear, wishbones or just a camber set up thing.MV6 2.6 Auto Thanks  :y

Hi its gav again was all going well, Bstard bolt has came off eventually lol.Swear box is overfilling but the coolant transfer pipe is welded tight to the thermostat. The old bracket on the transfer pipe cast has broken off where i was hitting it.the thermostat has cracked across the bottom near the bolt but is still fixed in the bolts are loose and ive had them out but put them back in to keep the pressure on it.An ideas drill it out with a series of small holes further up the try and shatter it maybe.Any help would be great thanks Gavin.

Omega General Help / Update Seems to be working.
« on: 30 December 2019, 19:37:34 »
Hi all hope everyone had a great xmas just an update on the gear selector.I have now replaced the gear selector and also managed to have a good look under the car which has shed some light on possible other stuff but thats for later. The gear selector feels better and does select each gear with the yellow light engaged but it also still lights up all positions and flickers during selection, only sometimes via the stick. I drove it back after replacing and it hasnt thrown up the auto box limp mode lights crossed fingers so far.I took it apart checked and cleaned the tracks regreased and tp be fair the old one when i opened it up had solid white grease all over the tracks inside hard as a rock. When in drive it doesnt jump into limp mode and the old unit looked like the little slot was way out on the casing when mounted.Seems to be getting better as i drive and no erratic behavior from the box when driving.I didnt check the fluid level so thats next should i just top it up or flush it.Thanks Gavin

Omega General Help / HBV Possible
« on: 18 December 2019, 19:31:43 »
Hi all, thanks for the recent parts and advice i have taken apart the used gear selector and cleaned it out and regreased it ready to go on the car.I noticed that when i had the car started it did warm up gradually and both of the matrix pipes are hot. Also the gauge did start working then sort of dropped back off to zero.I have flushed the coolant out and did get some light brown water out in doing this but noticed that the expansion tank still not even getting a little bit warm with the cap on and theres not really a flow through it.I it the HBV on a V6 and should both matrix pipes be hot.Im not so sure its the Thermostat but i guess i need to test it or just take it out. Many Thanks Gavin.
