Weird alarm problem
« on: 24 September 2018, 19:26:37 »

Alarm on this is temperamental to say the least  >:(
Loves going off for apparently no reason during the summer but not so much in the winter.
It got to the point were if its having a pmt moment, I just lock the doors via the back door and get on with my life  ;D
Obvious faults like bonnet and the estate rear windows have been ruled out.

Right, over the last few weeks its been a little temperamental with the remote.
Today, the car refuses to respond to the alarm remote even though the red LED is corresponding to the button push.

Just cleaned the remote switches and changed the battery too.
Remote led is definitely brighter but it still wont talk to the car.
Tried going through the re pair procedure but nothing.
The car locks, deadlocks and the alarm sets with the key and opens the locks with the key.
Obviously you have to get the key in the ignition quick before it triggers  :-X

Any idea's gents  ?

2 things I would check for starters (assumes you havent already  ;)), 1, does it still have the power sounder installed, if so, lose it, and 2, unplug the Bonnet Sensor, both of these assumes its a factory fit alarm.

Ok, a couple more, completely disconnect the front interior Courtisty Light Unit and see if that changes anything, check the Ingintion Barrel thing fully pops out when you remove the Key, and discounted the Alarm Horn for a while (if Alarm goes off it will be Flashing Indicators only), disconnect stuff one at a time.

Understand that lot to isolate the false alarm problem and i'll work my way through them but would any of them cause the remote to stop interacting with the alarm ?

Water in the driver's a post where the ecu lives...

Equally a wiring issue caused by your hifi gubbins :-\

No sunroof so I don't see how any water would get down there from high.
Carpet it bone dry and i'm not loosing water so imo, that rules out any leaks from the bulkhead of heater matrix  :-\

The alarm has always been tempermental going back to when the OEM 2013 was fitted. Its just been getting worse and now stopped reponding to the remote.  All connections was soldered / heat shrinked anyway  :y
Head unit uses the original loom for all power feeds.

Has anybody got the wiring schematics for the oem alarm module ?

Via PM or Email for security / integrity reasons ?

Get a decent code reader on it, that will tell you what is activating the alarm.

Yeh, agree
What do you suggest ?
Prices starting from about 20 quid if possible  ;D

And back to the non opening with the remote problem.
Car has been sat for 2 days.
Went out to it this morning, pressed the remote as you do and the friggin thing opened in a flash  ::)
Cycled through it a few times with no problem  :-\
We did have some really REALLY heavy rain a last week.
Me wondering if Al suggestion of water could be causing it  :-\
Suns out, i'll have a gander ..........

Cheers  :)

There are alot of wires running in the floor on the driver and front passenger footwell. Under the carpet. These wires will get wet if the floor is wet. Had an issue on one of my pfl omegas that the mid would suddenly turn on when the car was parked up, and the central locking would be slow and irratic. It was the wiring in the floor that had been wet for some time and the central locking wiring and antenna amplifier wire shorted each other out.
