Friend had his Mokka serviced. The 'engine light' (?) came on. Took it back to dealer. " Ah sorry sir, the oil dipstick had not been put in properly."

???

Would a drop in pressure cause the light to come on? If I remove the oil filler cap with the engine running on my astra, the engine all but dies.

he's lucky there's a dipstick, loads of Mercedes engines don't (thought there's provision for a dipstick that's used for servicing only)

Creates enough of an air leak on the Beemer to upset the idle and put the EML on...

The mechanics[oops sorry they're technicians nowadays aren't they?]pull the dipstick quite a way out of tube during servicing at least in part as a reminder about re-filling with oil,so if it's not been put back properly has the oil level been checked?

I recall a mechanic somewhere forgetting to refill a Lambo Diablo's oil after servicing it, test drive lasted 4 minutes and cost 30k to repair  :o
