Go on, pull the sill covers off, you know you want too... what can possibly go wrong???!!!
I need a responsible adult to do it whilst I'm not looking, and then breaking it to me gently  :'(

You want it gently?

OK, the sills are rusty and it needs new ones. Buy some, and get welding; sills are an easy job.
My welding skills ain't at that level :(

it's a good job to start with, especially on a car where the plastic covers will disguise lower skilled work. Seriously, basic MIG welding on car bodywork is achievable with 5 minutes tuition and 30 minutes practice on a correctly setup welder.

Young Daz is coming over to weld new outer sills on Project II in a couple of weeks. Got the pattern sills from Carz2 for around £29 each. I think at that price it's hardly worth patching the originals. Only thing to note is that the pattern sills don't have the pins in place that the plastic sill clips clip onto so will have to use some sikaflex I guess.

Surely a sort of self tapping screw is enough to hold them white clips on  :-\

Probably, although that might corrode over time with dissimilar metal corrosion? Mind you, by the time that happens to any great extent the car will probably be cubed.

Currently refurbing the alloys. Will be painting number three today. Its quite laborious and tedious sanding them down etc. but hopefully worth it when they are all finished and back on the car.

Cleaned and refitted, replaced with brand new or known good as-new spare, or refurbished about two dozen things in a three-day long service-athon!

And ended it by not fitting the vac pipes correctly, so she's running horrible, with non-functional multirams, haha! Sorting it this dinner break.
