Diff playing up
« on: 08 November 2007, 13:26:26 »

Hey
The diff in my omega has been playing up, at first it doesnt lock very well and acts like an open diff, but after driving for 20-30 mins it locks fine, also ive noticed a clicking noise coming from it (i think) at low speeds (under 10mph), this doesnt happen every time, and it only started about a week ago.

just incase its obvious, does anyone know whats wrong with it? ive not checked the fluid level (dont know how to). its been suggested that the plates need replacing but i dont know anything about lsd's so thought it would be worth asking.

does this happen only on full turning lock (either right or left) and pulling away with some slight aggression?

Given its an LSD the first thing to do is change the fluid (see the maintenance guides) as the friction modifiers in the fluid degrade with time which affects the LSD operation.

You need a good LS oil....Silkolene BOA90LS is very good.
