Omega General Help / Leather Interior fitting
« on: 01 August 2006, 22:29:27 »
Finally got my hands on a nice black leather set, currently sitting at home.

Have checked under all the door strips for connectors and the drivers one is missing  >:(

Have checked the passenger and rear seats and they look to be not a problem.

The car it came from already had the loom in place but it looks to be missing on mine.

I managed to get all the connectors + loom for the drivers seat so should be a case of using jointers for fitting.

The guy I bought them from tested them before they were removed so all good  :)

When I took them from the car the guy said to enable them to work they just need a live feed and earth does this sound right.

Shall be beginning to fit them tomorrow so should be fun.

Looking at the looms I have the main power is from the thicker red and brown cables in the main loom that runs to the rear of the car.

If anyone has any tips it would be most appreciated.

Omega General Help / Heating problems
« on: 16 September 2008, 09:06:15 »
Car has just passed its MOT and now I cannot get heat from the vents which ever way i twist the dial, only to the windscreen.

Am I right to think the likely culprit is vacuum pipes behind the centre console may have come loose / disconnected.

Does anyone have any Ideas and if it is what i'm thinking is there a guide for the centre console removal.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Windscreen wiper problems
« on: 19 August 2008, 18:21:54 »
I think the motor is loose somewhere as when the wipers are on they stop where they should driver side then after abit start hitting the windscreen surround.

I have also noticed the passenger side wiper every so often clips the innner edge of the wing at the edge of the screen due to wiper travel.

Checked the wipers earlier and the motor appears to jump when in use not harshly but noticable.

Is there anyone on here who knows where the mounts are for the motor unit?

Omega General Help / Following HG change
« on: 15 March 2008, 20:25:19 »
I still have a few concerns which the garage who did the work imo should iron out.

Cold starts and starts in general the car sits at just under 2k revs for a short period and I have noticed the revs do not drop freely takes a few second for revs to drop to just under 1k as they should when idling

Whether this is just me being picky I'm not sure.

The only thing I havent done is soaked the ICV in carb cleaner in a while and checked the breather system but I should have thought the garage would have done something with this.

Any Ideas on what to check for?

Omega General Help / Steering wheel shakes at 50mph +
« on: 02 March 2008, 23:10:04 »
I have finally got the omega back on the road and whilst I had the HG failure repair I had 4 new tyres fitted.

Yesterday I took my car to STS and had a full geometry done as the steering wheel alignment was all wrong.

Was driving back from my Girlfriends tonight and the steering wheel began to shake at around 50mph+ not violently but noticable.

Any Ideas on what could be causing it.

Omega General Help / Head Gasket failure
« on: 17 January 2008, 08:46:30 »
Looking to do the Head gasket on my omega asap just waiting on funds to become available.

The Engine itself has not been heavily used since just after xmas and last weekend I changed the injector seals decided to check the dipstick and the oil filler having checked previously all was fine but this time both are coated in mayo.

I have already done some investigating and a full HG from Vx including Piston Rings is roughly £210 all in

Is it recommended to change the piston rings as I'm hoping it will give it abit more life.

All help would be much appreciated :y

Omega General Help / Possible early tensioner failure
« on: 31 December 2007, 09:12:13 »
Boxing Day I drove too and from London fine no worries

Next day excessive clicking from the engine so thought Id do the checks.

Due to my recent troubles with my car I thought I'd check the timing and discovered to my horror the Cambelt being excessively slack tried to retension the belt and the rear tensioner pointer moves so far with tension then tighten the centre bolt and the tension drops off.

Tried rotating the engine and the pointer does not move as it should.

Happier in a way as the timing is all spot on as it has not jumped any teeth on the belt so going to try a new kit first and take it from there.

Time will tell but the current kit has only been on the car 15k and been on only 1 and half years.

Can anyone make any suggestions as to what damage may have incurred other the piston to valves hitting.

Omega General Help / Injectors issue help needed
« on: 27 December 2007, 17:57:27 »
Took the car too and from London last night drove fine

Started the car this morning and all you can hear is clicking from under the fuel rail I'm guessing the injectors or the seals are fubarred

Was also pretty hard to get it started aswell once running the engine was shaking pretty violently so haven't used the car today deep joy.

Can anyone confirm whether this could be m my issue

Vx are getting me new seals for the Injectors and the seals for the fuel feed pipe and fuel return pipe going to try this option see how I get on.

Was soo close to selling it on before xmas

Merry Christmas too all :y

Omega General Help / Possible HG failure
« on: 17 December 2007, 18:46:42 »
Anyone got any ideas on how to do a HG change on a 2.0

How do you do grinding of the valves etc

I haven't yet had a compression test done but I'm sure its this.

Car pushes out plumes of white smoke on cold start and i keep having to top the coolant bottle up.

Car also shakes until the revs & idle evens out.

Checked all the necessaries

Currently there are no signs of oil in the water or gunge on the dipstick/oil filler cap

looking to do the job over the xmas period if I can get the parts in time.

All help would be gratefully received :y

Omega General Help / More Car Troubles
« on: 05 December 2007, 19:59:28 »
So far I have done a fair few jobs

- New lead / plugs / Dispack
- New thermostat + Housing / Coolant
- New sump Plug / oil / filter (plugs had Brown tinges to them on the porcelain parts)
- New Vac pipes from the EGR etc
- Cleaned and reseated the EGR valve
- New manifold Gasket + bolts fitted
- Checked the whole breather system and fitted a new throttle body gasket
- Soaked the ICV in carb cleaner

I have a new fuel filter as I think this could be clogged may help.

Tick over is fine start up is shite just like a tractor, pushes out smoke whilst on choke clears after a little while and pulls like anything since all the jobs I have done. Seems as the though fuel might not be getting through properly maybe thinks next job is to get it compression tested as other have mentioned previously.

Thought my trouble was piston slap but there is no heavy knocking.

Could well be the head gasket but I don't have gunk on the oil filler cap or on the dip stick and i don't appear to loosing any coolant.

The smoke on start up is white so could be signs of HG on its way out.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated

Omega General Help / Help needed
« on: 25 October 2007, 19:07:56 »
I still have a shaky start when the engine is cold.

Have so far cleaned the throttle body the IACV changed the oil separator, cleaned the egr valve changed the Vac pipe which runs from the EGR to throttle body

Cleaned all the breather pipes including the small drilling in the side beneath the throttle body.

Now thinking maybe another fuel filter and maybe replace the air filter or even the leads.

**Edit** forgot to mention its had a full coolant change and new thermostat recently fitted, also a new rad last year.

Running out of ideas now.

in the passed year its had new plugs, the rocker cover has been resealed.

Can anyone suggest anything else to look at.

All help will be much appreciated.

Omega General Help / ABS ECU TROUBLES
« on: 04 September 2007, 11:37:21 »
Yesterday I fitted a brand new abs sensor to no avail the problem was still there so I thought I'd have a look at the relays I have had troubles before so I thought I take the relays out I struggled to get the rear one out as someone had bent all the connectors on the unit and discovered it had been glued down.

Now I need to get my hands on a new unit as when I pulled the relay out it bought with it half of the connectors.

So is there anything I need to know regards changing and so on.

I have heard the unit from vx is £800+ so am going to try find a second hand unit.

Do the units need to have the same part number and are they easy to remove/change.

The car will be off the road from friday as its mot will be expired so atleast I will have time to work on the car.

All help on this would be much appreciated as I don't no really where to begin.

Omega General Help / Lumpy Idle on start up.
« on: 06 October 2007, 14:32:17 »
Cleaned the breathers the ICV and throttlebody am thinking I need a new oil separator as its coated could this be my problem.

Removed the rear breather pipe and throughly cleaned

Removed cleaned and resealed the egr valve so this could still be an issue.

Could my 1st thought regards the oil separator be the problem.

What do you peeps reckon it could be.
