Omega General Help / Steering Wheel Wobble

I know my wishbones are in need of replacing but will this cause the steering wobble going from 70 down to 50

I have also noticed my car sort of wobbles as its going along like being in a boat wondering if my front wheels are fubarred as I lent my motor to a mate a while back and since then its not been the best ride.

? him over it but he is pleading it was fine.

Taking it to the garage to get it checked over as it also pulls to the left. finally have some pennies

MID Display query :question

I have contacted someone about a MID from a 2.0 cdx facelift would the connectors be any different to mine or were the screens the same across facelft and pre facelift.

Can these be retrofitted as I am tempted to buy a basic Omega to upgrade a little.

I was wondering whether these could be added, should the wiring be in place.

Also I'm guessing the select model doesn't have a full MID

Omega General Help / Advice Needed, Alarm Problem On Dads Car

My dad has an M plate omega and so the alarm is the infra red type.

Up until yesterday the car was in daily use, without any problems.

Yesterday morning he went to unlock the car and it would not open from the fob, he opened the car sat in the drivers seat and pointed the remote towards the red Dot on the sunroof panel and nothing.

I got a call from him yesterday saying the car is totally immobilised what should I do, so I talked him through the resync process over the phone, nothing happened.

On my way home from work I called in as I couldn't understand what was happening, tried the resync myself but again no joy.

Central Locking works, the Alarm button LED flashes and the internal lights work.

The process for this is to turn the key till the ignition lights appear and point the remote towards the red dot then the internal light should flash 3 times and the locks should open close. This however is not doing what it should.

The remote red led flashes so I know the batteries are ok in it.

Could anyone suggest a way to get this sorted.

Omega General Help / Rear Blind Woes

Basically My blind seems to sag on one side when up and when I press the button it doesn't roll the whole blind in, looking to remove it tomorrow and have a look can these be adjusted at all.

Seems to pull the top piece into the shelf but leaves 2inches or so of blind out.

Hope this makes sense

Omega General Help / Alarm issue

Can anyone tell me what the causes are of the alarm remote becoming unsynced with the car.

Just lately I have to resync my car atleast 2-3 times a week for some unknown reason.

One minute it works the next I have no chance and it beginning to get very annoying.

The remote I am using has had a recent new battery but could this be the cause although the red and green lights do work.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Omega General Help / Fuel Tank Leak Advice Needed

Filled the tank up Saturday evening car wasn't used after filling and Yesterday I was met with a nice puddle of petrol under the car.

Car wasn't parked on a flat so the drivers side was lower than the passenger side.

Looked underneath to see petrol running down the back of the tank from the top and dripping to the floor.

I'm assuming this is the valve on top is kaput.

Lost best part of quarter of a tank so was not happy yesterday.

Any Ideas on whether this can be changed or would it be a complete new tank needed.

Omega General Help / Oil Loss Problem Still

Well I thought had cracked my oil problem by redoing the rocker cover but yesterday I had the mid flash up "oil lack" so I checked the oil and fair enough it needed a topup, now I am beginning to think its something else as I checked all round the rocker cover and in the plug wells and there are no signs of any leakage and having looked under the car it all looks to be around the sump, my original thoughts were the rocker cover was leaking at the front and oil was running down behind the Cambelt cover now this seems not to be the case as its still leaking from somewhere.

I even checked the rear crank breather back when I did the rocker cover and there were no signs of seapage from there.

Can anyone suggest anything else that could be causing my problem.

Omega General Help / Erratic idle

Now I have a pretty good Idea of what the problem maybe but thought you guys could help comfirm my suspicions basically my dads omega was given a nice long run down to cornwall over the xmas period now when he was down south he rang me to say the idle was going up and down when the engine gets hot but drives fine and when cold idles fine.

Before he went I resealed the rocker cover new gasket, o rings and sealant and I made sure all the breather pipes were nice and clear, even fitted an oil seperator for good measure.

The only thing I didn't check was If i'm right is there a mesh at the bottom of the rear crank breather pipe if so this is still in need of cleaning and also although i cleaned the throttle body I never removed it just cleaned with the carb cleaner, thought best to leave till he got back and when vx were open for a new gasket.

Idle contol valve was left to soak in carb cleaner for the best part of a morning.

So pretty much covered most but think I may have missed something.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated

Omega General Help / Handbrake Assembly

Basically the Black Omega went in for its MOT and its passed [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] 8-) [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]

But I wanted adjust the handbrake so it held on 3 clicks not 5, now I managed to adjust the shoes but the bolt which is part of the handbrake assembly is seriously corroded so I was unable to adjust the lever by tightening the centre nut.

What I want to know is are all handbrake parts the same, only in the new year I plan to remove its current one possibly by hacking through the bolt and fitting a new/replacement part enabling adjustment from under the car aswell as via the rear internal adjusters.

Omega General Help / Engine Temperature + Fans

I drove to work this morning and thought to myself its been a while since I have heard the fans cut in so I left the car to run and sure enough the temperature slowly went up, the fans kicked in at just about 97 and dropped off to just under 95.

I am quite pleased that when I checked the fans it looked like the one on the rad was going aswell as the one on the condensor, I am guessing this is how it should work.

The car normal running temp is usually about 90 but with stop starts the most I have seen it go is 95

I am no longer getting the coolant leak since the rad change so in all seems ok.

Silly question time

My question is does this sound as though its working as it should.

Omega General Help / Exhaust Manifold Blowing

Having had abit of time spare on sunday I managed to have a look at my exhaust and have confirmed my exhaust manifold is blowing.

You can hear a tapping noise coming from that area.

I am looking to remove the exhaust manifold on saturday to rethread a couple of known knackered stud threads. Looking to get a tap and die set on saturday to sort this problem.

I was thinking what is the recommended to use for refitting the studs loctite or something similar also I am looking to change the gasket if it knackered what sort of sealant is recommended as I have some proper exhaust sealant but not sure its ok to use on the manifold to head join.

I assume that if any of the current studs have snapped its going to be a bugger to drill them out.

This job has been needing to be done for a while and so looking to get it sorted.

Any tips for removal or refitting would be much appreciated.

Omega General Help / Oil leakage Problem

Solve one problem and as usual find another.

On the way to work this morning had the oil lack come on the MID now earlier when I turned the engine on the MID said low engine oil, 1st time I have seen this.

I now know the exhaust manifold is somewhere near sound but the rocker cover is leaking at the front causing the oil loss.

What I was wondering is now the low engine oil has appeared on the MID would I still be safe to drive it home 20 mile trip and I shall top up tonight and do the necessary at the weekend.

Also going back to the rocker cover refit can anyone recommend a tool they use to torque down the cover with only I think my torque wrenches dont do below 10Nm.

Omega General Help / Possible coolant problem

Following on with the power problem on the Black Omega

Since I had the car running last night and drove it around the block a few times.

I left the car to run turned the heating on hot air was coming out, but my dad who was at the time outside the car said he could smell coolant.

The car has no AC so standard twist dials.

The car had new coolant when I did the cambelt and waterpump change and so am thinking it could possibly be the egr valve at the back as there are nos signs of leakage coming from the rad.

If I find it is coming from that general area would blanking the egr valve off permanently be a problem or is it a temporary fix.
