General Discussion Area / My birthday
« on: 08 October 2021, 06:49:33 »
It's  my birthday today and with my terminal health issues, is likely to be my last. I don't have a definite idea of time left, but It won't be much longer.
My Omega failed its MOT a year ago, but I can't drive it anyway  due to eye problems amd it has been   SORNed  since last April.
I would like to remain a member for as long as possible, please.

General Discussion Area / Ageas home contents insurance- shysters!
« on: 19 October 2020, 16:59:58 »
Two months ago my son accidentally pierced the refrigerant pipe in our freezer, causing it to fail. I completed the online claim form, stating clearly the cause of the damage and there ensued a series of delaying, incommunicative emails. My broker could not get them to respond effectively AND FINALLY THEY DISMISSED MY CLAIM, SAYING THAT i WAS NOT COVERED FOR ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE!
Had I been told that such damage was not covered back in August, I would have beeen spared a lot of unwelcome stress and effort, which, given my health issues, I could well have done without.
Just what exactly is covered if not accidental damage? Wear and tear would be excluded also, so that doesn't leave much else!
Once again, an insurance company is happy to collect premiums, but very reluctant to pay out and will try anything  to avoid doing so.

General Car Chat / Massive MOT failure - goodbye Omega?
« on: 28 September 2020, 01:29:56 »
Broken spring, brake pipe corrosion, sills corroded and wishbone joints knackered to name but a few things! If I could display a JPEG image of the certificate, I would, but I don't know how. I've only done 5,000 miles on those ATP wishbones....waiting for TB to sneer and say "I told you so"!

Sorry, but the lady is far too important for the "Dead Person" fil e.
My beloved Dame Dianna Rigg died today - she whose eyes shot arrows into my heart.

General Discussion Area / Omega in good health, Ron isn't!
« on: 06 September 2020, 19:14:47 »
I've been absent from the forum for ages as I've been more in hospital than out of it, with  deteriorating kidney. I am now being prepared for dialysis - not a good prospect - and will effectively be house/hospital bound.
I started the Omega for the first time since last November (when I broke my hip bone) and I expected it to be reluctant to wake up, even if only to pressurise the fuel line, but amazingly it started immediately, was lumpy for about 5 seconds and ran normally!
Now I am readying it for MOT next week: all fluids sorted, cleaning headlight lenses and only the emissions light to put out.
Wish me luck?

Problems come not in single spies....
Now my combi oven has gone bozwonk, cutting out after 59 seconds (exactly) on any function, grill, convection or microwave.
It's a Sharp R958 - any ideas, gents?

General Discussion Area / Silly IT question?
« on: 17 May 2020, 16:31:23 »
I want to use an ethernet splitter to run two  computers from one feed, but the instructions say no, I can't. Why not? Is there a clash?
I know that I have a spare ethernet output on the router, but at the moment it isn't convenient to run a long cable upstairs to the computers and the wi-fi, as TB says, is total shite lately!

Hi gents.
Those of you afflicted with diabetes might be interested in this:-

I have asked my diabetes consultant for her opinion and when she has read it she will report back, If she sees no difficulties, I will give it a trial.
I will of course let you know how I get on, if my consultant approves. Conversely, if she disapproves, I will tell you why.

General Discussion Area / I'm back!
« on: 11 December 2019, 16:29:57 »
Hi gents. I have now just returned home,  still immobile and with lots of pain. The days are boring, just shared between lying on my bed and sitting in an armchair - NOT how I want to spend what little time I have left to live!
At least the debates on here provide some diversion, but I m having daily physiotherapy and the reckon it will take another 6months to restore mobility!  :(

General Discussion Area / REASON FOR ABSENCE.....
« on: 18 November 2019, 16:35:01 »
Two weeks ago I fell and broke my hip bone and have been in hospital ever since - bloody painful!
I am virtually immobile and have only just managed to get a Wi-Fi connection, so lots of catching up to do.
I've been brilliantly well looked after, but recovery will take some weeks - walking frame and baby steps!
