Title: 3.2 Rear springs help
Post by: Ant - Petrol Blue Thirty Two on 19 May 2018, 17:16:23
Hi.  I am looking to replace my rear springs (softer sprung than normal rears as car is self level) and read on VX ON that the only ones that will do are genuine GM ones?  One of the rears has a bit broken off inside the cup that holds them but somehow the car still doesn't droop on that side?  The question is  - I don't know about the Trade Card scheme, but if it still exists how do you get one or does anyone have tips on getting GM ones at a best price if indeed only GM ones will do?  Thanks in advance. Ant

It's a German website, it's your translators fault.

I fitted a pair of standard spec Sachs to the rear of my 3.2 elite (on the advice of DG) and find them perfect.
Not quite as soft as elite spec, but not remotely harsh.

You're probably better off getting a set of standard Sachs ones from the likes of (whince) euroshite for about £25 a pop.  They are absolutely fine with SL shocks unlike some other options.

As always, no matter what you do, replace in pairs :)

Actually, charming insults aside, I think I may need to visit Serek as I've been transporting paving slabs and ballast recently and the nearside is lower than the offside and both ride heights are less than recommended on here.
Odd, because it doesn't feel any different, when driven.
